Keitserdoesn't remember any of her life before she met Amnae - or indeed, if she even had a life before. All she remembers is awakening in the storm with the unshakeable urge to protect. Wise beyond her years, and as calm and unshakeable as the earth itself, many who meet her or hear her story speculate that she was created of the Earthshaker himself, in the time of Amnae's need.

In the searing of the storm, I awoke.

A blinding flash of light was the first thing she remembered. The icy chill of the rain coming down an instant later was the next. The Guardian blinked as the world came into focus, the stripe of lightning fading to reveal sunset-tinted rainclouds and a barren plain.
What is this? Where am I?
Then she looked down at herself, dying light glinting off the water streaking down her armour, the blue of her hide, the leathery gold of her wings. All of it unfamiliar. The only thing that felt like it belonged was the insistent ache - the Search - in her heart, propelling her to her feet and forwards out across the muddy ground.
 Who am I?
Darkness continued to fall with the rain. Soon the only indication the Guardian had of her progress was the subtle twitches of her instinct guiding her path across the increasingly rugged terrain. She did not know what she was looking for-
Suddenly, the metallic tingle of the lightning on her breath was muted out with a new smell creeping in on a stray gust of wind, sour and sharp. Blood. Fear. She heard a small shuffling...
Something jolted urgently within her chest, as if she was being pulled towards the sound by an invisible fish-hook, and she quickened her pace. Rounding the edge of a crumbling plateau she bounded straight into the midst of a small pack of beasts, scattering them to all sides in surprise. They were already breathless and bloodstained from some fight; the appearance of the Guardian sent them fleeing with barely a growl and a display of her armoured claws.
What were you doing here, she wondered, watching them retreat hissing threats and anger. What do you have to do with my Charge?
The Search tugged at her again, in the direction from which the beasts had come.
Though the ground was rent with scars from a bloody battle and nothing, neither dragon nor beast and living nor dead, remained in the area, the Search remained persistent and strong. What am I even searching for? Is there something or someone here at all-
-a lull in the rain for a moment, just long enough for the Guardian to pick up the sound of the faintest of breaths coming from under a pile of rock and rubble-
-and there! A small Fae, half-hidden in the mud... and alive. Most importantly, alive.
"What are you doing out here, little one?"
The Fae looked up at her, eyes wide and dull and glassy. "Who are you?"
"My name is Keitser," she said, before she could think. It did not feel familiar, but it felt right. If I was not Keitser before, I am Keitser now. She pushed away the rocks around the other dragon and nudged him out into the open with a paw. Cuts mirroring the ones carved into the surroundings were scoring his scales- "You were attacked. I chased away - there was a band of the Beastclans-"
"-who killed them all," he interrupted. "I think. I ran away."
"You are lucky to have survived." Lucky I found you. The beasts were coming back.
"Lucky? If this is luck then I do not want it."
The bite in his voice shocked Keitser almost enough for her to take a step back. "I am sorry. You have survived, then," she apologised quietly, lowering herself onto the cold earth to look at him. "Come with me, little one. This is not a good place to stay in such a storm. We may return after it blows over, if you wish."
The way the tiny Fae struggled wordlessly to his feet and walked away without one glance back at the ruined landscape made her think they would not be coming back.
