"HURRY UP PLEASE IT'S TIME."

She was always in a hurry to get somewhere else, be somewhere else, and her rushing about got her lost in unfamiliar terrain. An elderly dragon who lived by himself out in the Ashfall Waste found her, adopted her, and taught her everything he knew about surviving in a harsh environment. He was like a grandfather to her, and she adored him and would do anything for him.

One day, though, he didn't return to their lair. Though impatient by nature, she waited as best she could. Surely he wouldn't have abandoned her...but days passed, and still he hadn't returned. Finally she set out in search of her mentor only to make the horrific discovery that he had been killed by the beast clans not very far from their dwelling. He had seemingly been trying to draw them off so that they wouldn't discover her. Heartbroken, she buried him as best she could and set off to find who had killed him, using the skills he had taught her to survive.

She hadn't anticipated having to look after another, but when she found a young dragon named Hush struggling to survive, she couldn't help but take him under her wing. Hurry reluctantly abandoned her quest for revenge, as she knew going near the beast clans purposefully would only endanger her new companion.

It was harder to find food for two. When the hatchlings stumbled upon a lair made entirely of food, Hurry knew it had to be a trap, but she was too tired and hungry to resist, and so they fell into the clutches of the Witch of the Waste and became her captive servants. They weren't really sure what spell the elder dragon was working on, as she mostly ignored the hatchlings and kept muttering something about finding her lost love, but she wouldn't permit them to leave, and she forced them to toil from dawn until dusk.

Hush used his budding wind magic to fold a cry for help in the shape of a bird and fly it out of the witch's domain. His origami note ended up in the claws of Eztli, who came looking for the hatchlings. He first attempted to negotiate for their release, offering the witch compensation as well as a home in his clan in the Starfall Isles where she would have access to a large collection of tomes that might help her in her spellwork, but she refused and attacked him. Their battle flattened her dwelling place, and when Ez proved the stronger of the two, she flew off in a rage, cursing at the coatl and the hatchlings for ruining decades of research.

Ez gave Hush and Hurry the same offer he had given the witch - the offer of a place to live and work and learn and belong, which the two gladly accepted. Hurry isn't used to a life of ease and plenty and takes frequent trips to the harsher climes of the mainland, seeking out rarer, harder to get materials that the clan's dragons need for their academic and magical research. She also teaches survival skills to the clan's hatchlings.
