Biography

~3sChIA3.png~~"That's the thing about change; you never know when it might happen. The thing is, it's always happening. Sometimes it's good, and sometimes it's bad. But don't let the bad things take away from the good ones."~~

Ask any other dragon of the clan, and they'll probably tell you that Altair is many things. The oldest of the clan, secretive, strange, eccentric, any number of adjectives can be used. Many clan stories tell of his strange disappearances; not just of the dragon, but his entire lairspace! (Including the door.) Despite his Wind true wandering skills, he keeps a slightly alarming number of curious devices in his space. These, whilst reminiscent of the technology developed by the Lightning flight, somehow seem much more advanced and different. It's better not to ask what they're for: Altair will happily provide an answer, but good luck understanding it.

Mira guides you the short distance across the hall. The door to this room is closed, and, rather than just barging in like you half-expect her to, she gives the door a few knocks. A male skydancer opens it. "Well, I certainly didn't expect visitors." He says. He looks young, but something about his voice seems to lead you to think otherwise. There's a hint of sadness, and...loneliness, maybe? He pulls the door completely open and waves you in. "Come in, come in! It's been a while since I had guests. Just call me Altair. Mind the mess, I've never been able to throw things out." The room behind the door is unbelievably cluttered, more so than even Mira's room. A book-case lines one wall, and the rest is filled with tables of junk and knick-knacs. There are some especially weird things, the likes of which you would assume came from the Stormcatcher's domain based on the wires and circuits, yet are like nothing you have ever seen before. There are no windows, except the usual skylight. Surprisingly, Mira enters cautiously, and with none of her usual confidence.

A further glance around the room lands on an old chest in the corner. Altair catches you looking at it and sighs, as if recalling some fond memories. "Just some old apparel in there, I'm afraid. I tend to change my look every so often. I keep the old things in there, though I'm not quite sure why..." He turns away to meddle with something on one of the tables, and you look around one last time before turning to leave. Mira follows you silently and closes the door. "Altair is one of the founders of the clan," she says quietly. "No one really seems to know exactly how old he is. Sometimes he just disappears, too. His door is just gone. Past clan members have said that before it does, they hear strange noises and the wind rages down the hallway like its storming. But anyway..." she says, regaining her spunky expression. "We've got more dragons to meet! Follow me!"

You don't seem to notice exactly how far you've gone until you come to another door and stop to read the nameplate. This only serves to confuse, however, as it reads "Faoloren." Wasn't there another dragon between Nenya and the Imperial last time you were here? You slip back up the stairs, examining the wall until you find yourself near Nenya's room again. Curious. There seems to be enough space between the two rooms, but there's no door to get in! You sit in front of where you think the door should be, thinking. Who should have lived here? Who did you see last time? It was Mira, Sayre, Nenya, then....

...

...Altair! The name suddenly comes to you, along with a few other details it seems you had forgotten. Altair the Skydancer. Blue door, room full of clutter. One of the clan founders? And a bunch of weird techy Lightning flight things. What was it that Mira had told you she had heard about him? Something about his door? That it occasionally disappeared without a trace? Yes. And that there were strange noises and gusts of wind around when it did. Well, it seemed to have happened again, though you don't think you heard anything over Nenya's playing. Whatever it was, Altair wasn't here. You might as well move on.
