Nimmi Cauldron-Keeper

Nimmi is a young Spiral originally from Plague territory. Intrigued by the bubbling piles of goop surrounding their home, Nimmi began training with Baldwin from a very young age. Eventually, lack of interest and resources in her home clan led her into a search for materials, recipes, and alchemy partners, which led her in turn to the Cloudscape Crags, where she ran into Jekusea. Literally. The uncoordinated Spiral fell down a icy, snow coated hill toward jagged rocks, flew into the air at the last second in an impossible flap of his wings, slammed into Nimmi, who had been watching in horror from the air, and they tumbled back down to earth, landing on a snow-covered rock.
"Sorry, sorry!" the clumsy Spiral spluttered, spitting out a mouthful of snow. It landed on Nimmi's face, which she had just dried with her satchel. "Sorry again!" he cried, frantically trying to brush her off, and poking her in the eye. "Sorry!"
"Get off!" Nimmi demanded. She tried to shake him off - he was bigger than her, but much lighter. "Stop helping!"
"Sorry," the Spiral said again. He backed off, and let Nimmi stand and shake off the snow. "I'm Jekusea," he said.
Nimmi glared at him, but decided to be nice, for once. "Nimmi. It was nice to meet you. I'm afraid I have to leave." She quickly flapped her wings and rose into the air.
"Wait! Um, Nimmi, wait!" Jekusea scrambled after her, flapping his wings in a awkward way. "Is that an alchemy stone I see? Can I borrow it!"
Nimmi didn't even pause. "What for?" she called over her shoulder.
"I'm a wizard!" Jekusea hollered back. "I want it for an experiment!"
Nimmi stopped. "Experiment?" she asked. "I love experiments! Can I help?"

And that is how Nimmi and Jekusea met. They soon hit it off together. Nimmi had plenty of space and help for her experiments, and Jekusea had her assistance with his spells and experiments as well. Nimmi also acted as his supervisor, making sure he didn't do anything too devastating. Jekusea's experiments tended to lean towards disastrous.

The angriest Nimmi ever got at Jekusea was after Baldwin's transformation into a new type of dragon. Naturally, both Nimmi and Jekusea were very curious at this phenomenon, and they both went along to see. At this time, Nimmi was incubating her first set of eggs. She couldn't leave them behind, so she brought them with. As she fiddled around with pieces of goo and slime, and examined Baldwin carefully, Jekusea picked up a beaker full of liquid and, as he was scrutinizing it, accidentally tipped it over the temporary nest, where it fell on one of the eggs and started sizzling.
Nimmi freaked out, of course. She shrieked, seized the egg, burned off the slime, examined it carefully for damage, examined the other eggs for damage, then started to give Jekusea the biggest tongue-lashing of his life. Jekusea said he was sorry many times, but Nimmi was absolutely furious.
After a while Nimmi calmed down, and they returned home with the eggs. But several months later, when they hatched, out came one small Spiral dragon and one small creature that looked a lot like the new Baldwin. She was a Bogsneak.
Nimmi freaked out again, but she calmed down quickly when she saw how much her shouts were disturbing her daughters. After figuring out what she ate, Nimmi fed them. She named her Spiral daughter Njala, and her Bogsneak daughter Lirael. Despite her differences, Lirael is hers.
