Biography
Oberyn was born after a brief fling between his parents. When all was said and done his parents barely tolerated each other, fact that made raising a nest together difficult. As time passed the fights only grew worse and Oberyn and his siblings were in the middle. The dragon himself remembers little of this as he was sent to the Clan of the Singing Bamboo when he was still a hatchling. He was raised by the then fledgling community, who taught him everything they could. He also developed a crush on the clanborn guard, Grape, but she was older than him and there was little chance she would accept him when he held no position.
However it didn't change the fact that he belonged to the fire flight, the only other fire dragon had also come to the clan as a hatchling, which was not helpful at all, so he began to pester any and all merchants from the Ashfall Waste. That's how he learned the art of metallurgy, and the combination of the brute strength needed to forge good metal with the delicate hands that could turn said metal into a masterpiece blew his mind. To that day there was no blacksmith in the clan, fact that brought more challenges than just the lack of a master from which to learn, there were no tools for him to use and no forge in which to work. In the end it was soon decided that he would take an apprenticeship with a fire clan that they had good relations with.
He enjoyed his stay in the Ashfall Waste, his teacher, a grizzened old blacksmith, taught him many things.
As the clan's new blacksmith he finally had the courage to ask Grape to be his mate. After a short courtship she finally accepted.
