  about.
Despite her stereotypical Spiral-like nature of energy and constant motion, Ivtasa is more than just a ditzy dragon. Her extensive book smarts and knowledge of the world around her makes her an excellent teacher for the hatchlings. She knows more about the other elements in Sornieth than any other dragon in her own clan. However, like many dragons, Ivtasa has other hobbies besides teaching. She has to have her claws in everyone's affairs, including her adopted brother's.

While most dragons would shy away from as dark a soul as Kelud, Ivtasa simply wants to be closer to him. Often busy with his job, the Undertaker has no time for his little sister. But that doesn't stop her from following him around and bothering him with personal questions.

╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯

“Did you ever quite find what you were looking for, Vermeil?” Ivtasa glanced over at her briefly before turning her head back towards a rather large pile of books. Yeesh, how had she let it come to this? Sure, her place was often rather disorganized but to lose a friend’s copy? Now she’d truly done it, but at the very least it gave her some type of excuse to clean up-- but even now she found herself wanting to shy away from the task.

At least Vermeil was there now, a perfect excuse to hold off cleaning just for a while longer, at least while she visited.

“Oh, dear, I’m afraid that’s a rather complicated question,” Vermeil’s answer was a strange one, one that had the spiral craning her neck over to look back at her, head tilting seconds later in question.

It took a moment but she soon continued and for a moment, Ivtasa swore she saw the other dragon’s features fall-- but Vermeil turned her head away.

“You see, I have found what I was looking for.” A brief pause, a moment’s hesitation. “Yet, it seems that isn’t quite enough. I’ve found what I want but guess, to put it simply, I cannot have it.” For a flash her tone had grown quiet, voice lower than usual and it was nearly concerning except near the end Vermeil’s tone had piped back up, head turning back to rest her gentle gaze on Ivtasa.

Only one thought rang clearly through her own head:Vermeil had found what she was looking for! Her mouth quickly opened to speak, expression brightening at a rapid pace but she froze up-- she’d found what she was looking for, or rather, who she was looking for and yet, she had said she couldn’t have it. That wasn’t exactly what she’d been expecting, in fact, what did that even mean? Was this other dragon simply unavailable?

A moment passed and a few conclusions danced about her head but one rang out above the others.

“Are they taken?” Ivtasa asked then, her bright expression having faded a few tones, features simple, plain, except her ears were held low.

No, she didn’t need to be so dampened-- Ivtasa’s ears quickly perked up, stepping towards her friend while offering a small smile. “If they are, you know, I think that’s okay. I was happy to hear you’d found a dragon you like finally but, I guess if they’re a taken dragon it makes me kind’ve proud?” An arm rose up towards her face, a claw soon gently tapping at the bottom of her cheek before cupping it.

“Despite wanting them you know they’re taken so, you aren’t gonna be like others who just get in the way of it all? I mean, if you really love someone you’d care for their happiness, right? I think that’s pretty admirable, actually! Then again, maybe I just feel that way due to a story I’ve read… it was a good one, there was a prince in love with this villager yet she was already wedded! He’d been trying to make hints at her and everything yet she was oblivious and right when he was going to proclaim his love to her he saw them, her and her husband!” Ivtasa exclaimed, soon shaking her head with a sigh, ears wilting briefly.

“It was a sad story but that prince was a good guy, not breaking them up or anything like that. My bad though, I’m afraid I got a bit off topic there didn’t I? I don’t even know if the dragon you’re thinking of even is taken!” Ivtasa gave a quick laugh, shooting her friend a sheepish look.

Vermeil only stared back at the spiral, staring at her with widened eyes, perhaps even looking a bit paler but only for a split second. Was it a trick of the eye? Surely it had to of been, as she too was then offering a polite smile of her own, a quiet, small laugh escaping her.

“Yes.. That is a good story, you will have to loan me the book sometime now won’t you?” Vermeil asked, soon continuing. “But I’m afraid that isn’t quite the case, though, maybe it would be easier that way. The one I love doesn’t seem to love me back, yet, I suppose it’s better to accept it rather than getting in the way, no? Besides, as long as we’re still friends, me and them, I can still be around them.. But, that doesn’t change how I feel, now does it?” A sigh escaped the skydancer, shaking her head to herself.

“Maybe they do love you? I mean, maybe not too, but you never know, right? Maybe they don’t even know it--- unless you’ve told them?” Ivtasa piped backup, figuring the least she could do was provide some kind of hope to her friend. It sounded like a sticky situation but surely Vermeil had some kind of a chance, right? After all, what kind of dragon wouldn’t like her? She was gorgeous-- how was it so?

Vermeil didn’t reply in an instant, instead she’d glanced away at a pile of books before soon looking back towards Ivtasa. She took two steps forward, their eyes met but-- wait!

“Say, who is this dragon, anyways? Eh? I’ve got a bone to pick with them-- I kid, I kid, but who is it you love, Vermeil?” Ivtasa asked then, gaze filling with curiosity as she peered at her friend expectantly.

Vermeil’s expression had twitched again, it happened only in a flash but for a second, there was that look of surprise, those light eyes had widened but all so quickly it was shut down, a thin smile worn on her face as she tore away from Ivtasa’s gaze.

“Sorry, friend, but that’s a secret. Can’t have you trying extra hard to match us together if I told you, eh? Hey, what of that book? Do you think you could find it for me? I would enjoy giving it a read, if you’re willing to lend it to me.”

Ivtasa’s ears quickly shot up, a grin pulling across her face while she turned her head away towards the stack of books she’d been tidying up. Ha, one of many piles of books, oh goodness where would such a book even be? Though, she did want to pry a bit, after all, who could Vermeil love? What type of dragon could that be? A kind soul? A strong heart?

No, she wanted to keep it to herself, Ivtasa was her friend and would respect that.

“Yes, yes, I’d be glad to lend it to you if I can find it.. Let me search for it!” And with that she was occupied, quickly fumbling through her stories to find it, knocking one or two piles of books all in the process.

She could hear Vermeil chuckle from behind her though, before she’d asked who this dragon was, she could have sworn.. She could have sworn Vermeil had wanted to say something right then..

(Read part 1)
The dragoness's heart thundered in her ribcage at the newfound confession, her eyes burning with fury at the lie as she headed up the stairs to the hatchling group above her secret library. The stairs creaked and groaned under the weight of carrying what looked like millions of stiff hardbacks and torches waves her forward as if they were cheering her on to get the task done. She felt relief wash over her anger briefly as she stepped through the light at the top of the staircase and into the main library.
The whole room was cream and brown walls and tiles, with red velvet curtains wafting in the breeze and giant glass windows acting as a portal to the outside world. Bits of red and brown furniture dotted the place, most of them occupied by older dragons reading upon the history of Igneous. A single group of twenty-odd hatchlings were sat on a ring of curved sofas in the center of the room, giggling and throwing bits of wrapper at each other like they were snowballs.
How could Ver lie to me, she thought grumpily as the relief went away, stepping out into the glowing room. It has to be a lie.
She shrieked slightly as a silver-black hatchling ran under her feet, being careful not to let the tower of books in her paws topple over whilst she regained her uneasy balance. Her flaired scarf - inspired by a series of books called Harry Potter that was popular amongst humans when they roamed around - twisted around her body, her chestnut-coloured flaring out like an umbrella in a storm. Her glasses moved down her nose ever so slightly in the effort to keep the hardbacks standing, and the Lily balancing on top of them almost toppling over the edge in a freefall.
"Excuse me," she called out after the young one, catching their attention. "Could you sit down, please? I'll be reading a story in a minute."
"Okay, lady," the hatchling said politely, waddling over to the group of other hatchlings who were playing and giggling in a little circle.
She let out a breath she hadn't realised she was holding and set the books down on a nearby fake tree trunk, her paws burning from holding and carrying a staggering pile of hard-back paper. Her back ached, her wings tuckered out from zipping around everywhere - yet she still had to read for the hatchlings.
With a small huff, she moved to grab a chair from the corner of the upper library, only to be pulled aside by a black, gem encrusted paw.
"Ver, what are you doing?" she hissed, her mouth forming a snarl. She didn't need this.
"I wanted to apologise, Ivy," her friend whispered, keeping her words soft.
"Well, you don't need to. I know you're lying--"
"I wasn't lying, Ivy."
She just laughed hysterically. "You must have been! How could I have not noticed?"
"Because I--"
"Forget it, Vermeil. I don't need this right now."
Her friend groaned, her face full of pain and her eyes sharp and hard. "If I can't prove it to you with words, let me prove it in another way."
"Go on, then! I'll wa--"
Ivtasa never got to finish her sentence as the Obsidian female pulled her in for a hungry kiss, her soft lips pressing against hers in a search. Shock ran through her at speeds unimaginable, tensing her figure, but she soon obliged to follow through with the action. Her vision turned to black with her chocolate coloured eyes disappearing from sight, a racing heart running riot in her chest and paws gliding through Ver's silken black mane like cream-coloured fish through an obsidian black ocean. The kiss got deeper as seconds rolled on, with the Obsidian-Gold Skydancer's paws pulling her closer and closer to the thin body of Ver, and then it just disappeared with deep breathing and blushing from both of the females. Ivtasa took in the friend before her; her glinting gold eyes with gems shimmering around the edges, her ebony antlers and her disheveled golden veil. Strands of black were waving in front of her glowing cheeks and slightly patted mouth.
Slight fury suddenly spurted in her heart, causing her to push past Ver and straightened her roughened-up mane and her dislodged specks. She then swivelled round to face her friend, her cheeks still flaring. "I'm still mad at you, y'know," she huffed.
"Yeah, I know," Ver muttered, shrugging but smiling to herself in terms of the small victory, warming Ivtasa's creamy-brown cheeks further. "Did it prove anything to you?"
She scratched the back of her neck, her robe and scarf sticking to her with sweat. "I guess so. I mean, it felt like you meant it, so..."
A speck of rose filled the Skydancer's cheeks further, brightening her smile and therefore brightening the Spiral's.
"Can you help me with the hatchlings?" she asked, looking towards the floor. "Then we can talk about this whole thing later?"
Ver chuckled softly. "Of course, I'll be more than happy to help you."
Ivy just gave her the Spiral's signature 'Of course you are' look. "Good, because they're a handful."

Headcanons by SnoringHyena (321606):
*Ivatasa truly has no idea how Vermeil can have that much money.
*One thing is certain she would have spent it all on books for the young dragons she teachers
*Vermeil does wonder if she is being too obvious with her crush for Ivatasa
*Ivatasa does try to get Vermeil to visit the students and Vermeil tries to say no but how can she honestly say no to Ivatasa when she puts on her pouty face
*Ivatasa standby the fact that she doesn't have a "pouty" face
*When she visits the younglings she tries to wear silks that she doesn't mind getting a little bit dirty after all Ivatasa is the one teaching
*She even gets roped into reading some of the books with Ivatasa either as the second reader or just acting out the movements that are in the book
*Ivatasa does try to get Vermeil to get out more and will sometimes take her on the silliest of adventures
*Vermeil does not like to talk about the antiques she collects because she believes that it may bore Ivatasa
*Ivatasa wholeheartedly disagrees and finds some the antique items backstories interesting
*If Ivatasa finds them interesting enough she will, of course, try to get Vermeil to tell them in class
*They both have different taste when it comes to insects
*Vermeil likes to eat smaller meals with a shorter time between them whereas Ivatasa prefers to eat a huge meal in one sitting which makes eating together difficult sometimes
