Biography
Xenthosia
Xenthosia was the first dragon with any sort of medicinal knowledge to join the Clan of the Striking Bolt. Her methods of healing were rather old-fashioned, and relied on herbal remedies, poultices, old wives’ tales, and faith. But they were all that were available to the clan at the time, and so they worked. As long as it heals as it is supposed to, medicine is medicine. And Xenthosia became known as a wise and intelligent healer, whose herbs could always patch a wound or cure a cough.
But of course, these methods of healing couldn’t manage everything. New diseases are born all the time. Resistances are developed when the same medicines are used repeatedly. And dragons began seeking new, modern medicines for their cures. Dragons like Vachel and Layet joined the clan, who could provide not only these modern medicines, but also preventative measures to prevent illness from developing in the first place. Fewer and fewer dragons found themselves coming to Xenthosia for herbs and tonics.
Time is a cruel mistress, especially when it steals your life’s work from you. Xenthosia is an elderly dragon now, and finds herself feeling more and more useless as the time passes on. Even the company of her daughter and her apprentice leaves her feeling lonely, as nothing can compare to the time when her little healing den in the lair was bustling with life and dragons seeking treatment. Xenthosia has been left feeling resentful of the younger generation and their “new age” of medicines, and she is constantly yearning for the clan to return to the old ways, when she was useful.
