Biography
Frostflower
High Priestess of Icewarden
High Priestess of Icewarden
When the anticipated nesting of Kaia the biologist and Rosario the archaeologist only resulted in a single egg, most couldn't help but feel disappointed. Despite this, Kaia and Rosario were determined to raise their child like any other couple. Meanwhile, at the Altar of Icewarden, Silver was praying to the gods. She and some of the other elders had sensed a change in the wind. The air currents had shifted, now blowing from the north and bringing warmer weather with them. She feared that if it continued this way, a part of the Outpost, along with the dragons living there, would collapse into the dark waves below the once sturdy cliff it had been built on. All of the clan's more capable ice mages were already trying to reinforce the wall, but it was impossible for them to work fast enough. When the day finally came for the egg to hatch, the soon-to-be parents were ecstatic. They and some of their closest friends were gathered around the nest, waiting for the child to emerge. It was Rosario who first noticed the small cracks snaking their way across the shell. Soon the surface had a tiny hole, with a forked tongue flipping in and out, sampling it's first smells. After some encouragement the little Coatl stumbled out completely. Her coat and wings shone like crystals and her colors were a mirror image of her mother's. After a long, wide-eyed look at her overjoyed parents, she lowered her head on the floor of the nest and dozed off, exhausted by her struggle against the hard shell. As soon as she had closed her eyes, the temperature of the whole nesting site seemed to drop. It felt like the winds had finally turned. But the air kept getting colder and colder, until even the iceborn dragons had to escape to the shelter of their homes. Kaia carefully picked up her new daughter, realizing to her horror that ice crystals had started to form on her tiny body. She rushed indoors and surrounded the hatchling with warm pelts and pillows. The young one didn't seem effected by the cold and just continued her nap. The following week was the coldest in the Outpost's history. Frost gathered on the walls of homes and a good stretch of the ocean froze over. Rosario and Kaia named their daughter Frostflower, after the patterns that appeared on her bed every time she slept. |
