"There's a fine, fine line between love, and a waste of time." Hymn was a devout child, a follower of the Plaguebringer's scriptures, and grew up singing hymns of praise to her deity's name. Though she grew less religious as she aged and less devoted to the Plaguebringer, she retained her fascination with religious music and usually adds some quality common to that genre to her secular compositions. Though a religious piece was an unusual choice for an audition, Cal and Clio saw that she had a stately stage presence as well as excellent pitch, so they happily added her to the newly-formed vocal group the Petal Tones. The Petal Tones soon gained renown throughout the regions, and their coming was eagerly anticipated by clans in many flights. They even had fans who followed them around from concert to concert. Unfortunately one of the fans proved to be unstable. He was obsessed with Urania and stalked her constantly, though she always refused his overtures and did her best to deter him. Nothing she tried worked, however, and one night before a performance, he attacked her, fatally wounding her before he was captured and subdued. Stunned and appalled by this senseless act, the Petal Tones decided to retreat to a safe haven to recuperate and rekindle their creative muse. Cal and Clio recalled meeting a coatl envoy named Ez who had told them of a coatl colony in the Starfall Isles, several of whose residents had petaled hides like themselves, so for now they are recovering on the island of Prufrock, far away from their former lives. They occasionally give impromptu concerts for the residents. Though initially uninterested in romance, the bass singer Erato made repeated overtures. She knew that he was a cad and someone she shouldn't get involved with even if she did find him a bit attractive. For a time she successfully resisted him, but after Urania's death, the walls she had built between them crumbled, and she sought him out for the comfort she couldn't find in her religious texts or elsewhere.
