A shimmering Pearlcatcher Female arrives in the night. The Clan Leader allows her to stay, though she stands out like a sore thumb amidst all the Mirror Dragons. Despite her haughty nature, one uniquely extravagant Mirror Male manages to coax her into his nest...a nest that soon fills with two glowing eggs. The embarrassed she-dragon stays just long enough to help tend the eggs, and then takes off in a heated display of indignation at having succumbed to the temptations of a lesser dragon. The father, Rumpelstiltskin, stays to tend to his two essentially illegitimate boys.

Erudite and intelligent, Reiny is Rumpelstiltskin's soft-spoken, diplomatic eldest son. The first of his clutch to crawl out of his egg, ever-so-cautiously nevertheless, Reiny has been an analytical problem-solver since birth. Contrary to his breed's nature, he grew up fascinated with all forms of speech and communication. Combining his mother's elegance with his father's uncanny shrewdness, his personality has culminated into a lean bundle of charm. His affinity for runes and scrolls earned him a comfortable position as the young apprentice to the Clan's official Scholar, Summer Phoenix. Despite his status as a Mirror Dragon in a Clan that views them as only second-rate, in addition to the fact that his mother didn't stick around, he is still generally one of the more well-respected of his kind. His natural charisma and eloquence saw personally to it.
