Makaio has a heart of gold and the personality to match. He cares for all of the dragons in the Ravendark Clan; big or small, good or bad, selfless or selfish. It doesn't matter if he likes you or not; he will provide advice to anyone who needs it, and is always available to lend a helping hand to those in need. Everyone knows Makaio by his friendly voice and charismatic grin, and the flashy way he carries himself. He has that dash and sparkle that the ordinary dragons like to see in a Captain, and his presentation of himself makes him very approachable. Giving is Makaio's favorite thing to do. Whether it be advice, service, or material items, he'll give them up willingly to aid any dragon in the clan (and sometimes even outside of it). He's always been that way; ever since he was a hatchling, he always made a point of sharing his possessions (including his prized handmade toys).

As beloved and charismatic as Makaio is, however, being a captain comes with its fair share of challenges. Not everyone likes him, and while he understands that, it’s often up to him to maintain harmony. He tends to be the peacekeeper and diffuses most hostile situations (especially since Clan Ravendark homes many stubborn and strong-willed dragons). His sense of justice is incredibly strong, and he’s never afraid to stand up for himself or others.

Makaio isn’t without his faults, though… His powerful convictions can get him into trouble if he isn’t careful. He never intends on being callous or hurtful, but sometimes he speaks without thinking and can be a little tactless. He also has a bit of an obsession with his appearance. He has a constant need to look good, and when he is unable to preen, he can become moody and sullen. Despite this, if he needs to dirty himself to protect someone or something, he’ll do it - but don’t expect him to be too happy about it.

Makaio and Ruben met shortly after Makaio came to the Ravendark clan. Ruben is light-hearted, frolicsome, and almost child-like. He was spotted one day while playing with the new hatchlings, lost and lonely, but full of spirit. Ruben didn’t initially trust any of the dragons, other than the hatchlings - afraid he would be eaten (or worse). Only the suave, gentle captain was able to calm the fiesty fangar, and quickly gained the little ball of fur’s confidence. Since then, the two have become rather inseparable - where Makaio is, Ruben is sure to follow.
