No one knows who she is or how she died. There wasn’t a sign of her in the lair when the remnants of the Updraft Knot moved into the Kingdom of Shimmering Glass. But after they’d been there for a while, the more mysterious and ethereal denizens of the Kingdom started to awaken. At first she only haunted in the hospital wing, Marblewight, Dawsonia and Clarion saw her the most. Glimpses of her passing between the large stone pillars of the recovery wing. For a long time each of the doctors thought they were going insane, until she started playing her little tricks.

She isn’t really benign or malevolent, she’s just kind of there. But she’s sneaky, part of being a ghost, she doesn’t make any sound and kind of likes to sneak up on people when they’re not paying attention. Thing is. She’s always in dragon form.

However in the Kingdom of Shimmering Glass many dragons have humanoid forms, and choose to exist in that form most of the time for convenience’s sake. However Zariella does not have a humanoid form. Either she’s so old she’s from a time before they discovered the magic that allowed them to change their form, or she’s forgotten how to change, or cant as a spirit... no one knows. Because she can’t or chooses not to speak.

Imagine being roughly human shaped, cooking breakfast and then you turn around to grab a spatula and there’s a huge ghostly dragon, two or three times bigger than a horse, filling up your entire kitchen behind you. Staring at you. With glowing red eyes. And laughing silently at your jolt of surprise.
