Biography

Clan Role: Assists with clan fortifications and keeps tabs on Jar. He also maintains the clan kiln.

His charge is Jar's sanity. Good luck with that, Raku. Good luck with that.

Raku is a patient dragon, which likely explains how he can get along with Jar so well without going crazy. When there is work to be done on fortifications for the clan, he usually helps out his mate, since such projects are typically a bit of a tall order for just one dragon to tackle alone. He also prefers to stay nearby her in general, to help keep her focused and out of trouble.

She's prone to dart off on some random urge for adventure, to find the source of a mighty river or a place to stash rare treasures. Raku enjoys the spur-of-the-moment outings. What he worries about are the times when Jar tries to shove her head into a random hole in the ground to see what's down there, or the times when she tries to eat the bark off some random tree to see what it tastes like, or the times when she tries to taunt dangerous packs of wild animals, or the times when... well, you get the picture.

Aside from acting as Jar's voice of reason and helping her out with clan construction, Raku is also the main regulator of the clan's kiln where the potters of the clan fire their wares. For an ice-aligned dragon, he seems to have a strange fascination with fire, and he can reliably tell whether the temperature of the kiln is getting too hot or too cold or if it's just right. The Lightning dragons of the clan have offered to invent an automated kiln, but the potters seem to trust Raku's uncanny knack better than any fancy machine. When there is a firing, he will monitor the kiln constantly until the process is finished. His clanmates call him Raku after the unique firing technique by that name.
