(Description of Role) Quote/Headline/Description The wildclaw never felt at home on the island of his birth. Sure, there were a few other wildclaws in the clan in the Starfell Isles – his father, a couple of members of some weird order obsessed with a prophecy about a dark castle, the maintenance guy, and that strange fellow with the traveling book mobile who visited every once in a while – but most of the clan's members were coatls, and unlike his siblings, he wasn't one. This made it hard to connect to other hatchlings his age...well, that combined with the fact that he was held in awe for his beautiful colors and the petals on his hide, considered to be an auspicious sign in the clan. Most of the clan's dragons treated him with respect (and thus accorded him a respectful distance), save for one spiteful coatl who considered himself his father's rival and claimed that his own offspring were far superior. (That coatl's offspring had already left the clan before the wildclaw was born, no doubt happy to get away from their narcissistic father.) His ability to forge connections with his clanmates was further hampered by his parents. An astrophysicist and an astronomer, they never let him out to play much for fear he would hurt or blemish himself. They didn't understand that he wasn't quite like them, that he wasn't content to stay inside and read about space. He didn't want to spend his life looking through a telescope at the stars and making calculations about them – he wanted to be out traveling under them. So finally he left under the cover of darkness, out under the stars his parents loved so much. He knew that rather than spending his life looking up at the sky, he'd rather see what secrets lay buried in the earth, so he decided to travel to the Sunbeam Ruins to make some friends and a name for himself. |
