The voice of the oasis, Cavalier, is the spirit of the water. The face you think you see in the crystal clear pools is the face of a dragon that most might think is trapped there, but to the contrary, he’s so free. On a whim, he can appear in a different oasis, miles across the desert. He lives in the water, the misty breeze that you feel on your face when you turn your nose up to smell the sweet aroma of a resource so scarce in the desert.

Where souls are often trapped at the bottom of these pools – in the coins and riches heaped together on the wet sand, Cavalier is anything but trapped. He does his best to warn those passing through, a guiding voice in the delirious minds of weary dragons that have burned their feet on sizzling sand. They view it as their conscience, calling out to them, stopping their greed from overcoming them. He’s not always successful, hence the ever growing pile of riches in each pool, but he fights for their souls to be free.

While he’s part of the desert, he doesn’t always agree with its practices. Is one simple mistake, a moment of weakness, a reason to steal someone’s soul? How could anyone imagine such consequences for touching a coin at the bottom of a pool in the middle of a desert? Cavalier doesn’t believe it’s fair – he’ll even do his best to manipulate the situation in the dragon’s favor. He’s a kind spirit, but sometimes, he just loses.
