Faraday was only an egg when the clan came across him, so two pearlcatchers took him in with their current litter and raised him as a pearlcatcher... and a scientist. After a severe spell of indigestion-- He was only a hatchling! He didn't know he wasn't supposed to eat his shell too!-- Faraday began to realize that his brothers and sisters were not, in fact, covered in spiky-things, and that he was different. No duh.
He buried himself in his studies, and subsequently buried himself. The sun became a thing of the past, and the only time he would venture from his section of Aster Company's abode was deep into the night to watch stars and planets make their turns through the galaxy.
Faraday is the head scientist of the company, though that's really only a title. He insists his work is more important than his administrative position... so Varinos usually ends up managing all the scientists anyway. Faraday's greatest attribute is his intellect, which leaves far too much to desire in terms of his communication. Why he ended up being the head scientist eludes everybody.
