S T Y L U S
The Poet An exile from the Earth Flight, Stylus spent many years as a wanderer, travelling from Clan to Clan as a scribe, before eventually settling down in the Clan of Hunter's Glen - back when it was still in the Wind Flight - as a poet. He has changed much in his travels; his bitterness over his exile lost its edge, and while he certainly will not - and could not - forgive his father, he has moved on from that old wound. He has a new life, and is happy to say that his sire has no part in it. He has made his own family with the Arcane Scholar Asra, raising dragonets together, and has even formed a healthy bond with his younger brother, Eran. While his time in the Clan began as a poet, and Stylus still does write poetry often, he now teaches penmanship at the Clan's school. He's known by the dragonets as a bit of a grump, but he's more than willing to spend extra time with them after classes if they need more help. 'It's my job, after all' he says, trying to pretend that he doesn't really care that his students succeed or not. |

Origins
Stylus was at odds with his father, a Sun-touched Imperial, since hatching. From a young age, Stylus grew to hate fighting and the art of war, preferring to use his words to twist situations to his advantage. Growing used to being able to coax and threaten others to get his way, he quickly became a greedy and manipulative force. By the time his parents realized what their son had become, there was little they could do. They convinced the Clan to exile Stylus from the Basalt Hollow, for the good of all. Stylus spent many years of his life wandering Sornieth, passing from Flight to Flight and Clan to Clan. Eventually, he stumbled upon the Clan, back when it was still in Wind Flight. He did not feel the Calling whatsoever, and was a bit intimidated by how strongly it affected some of his Clanmates, but followed them to the Ice Flight anyway. If you ask him why he'd snort and say that 'finding another clan would be too much effort' - although he really just didn't want to leave behind the dragons he'd grown used to over the years. |
Personality
Stylus is a cynical, sarcastic Imperial with a vocabulary larger than most libraries. He writes long poems, often epics ending with the son killing their father, and holds a long-seated resentment towards the Sun-touched Imperials that make up the majority of his ancestors. He is vain, greedy, and more than willing to resort to manipulation to get his way. His way, however, is to care for his family - his husband, Asra, and their children. He is also very protective of his younger brother, Eran, using his influence in the Clan to get him a position amoung the Clan's architects. |
