Empire of Death: Clan of Death

Fiona was born and raised in the Shifting Expanse. She had no parents, as her clan raised all hatchlings together, and was taught at an early age how to work the machinery- not that they could work it just yet. Once she was old enough to however, she took pride in the work she did for the Stormcatcher. Like many dragons she'd never had the honor of seeing the deity but perhaps if she worked hard enough she too would be bestowed the honor of meeting him at least for a few seconds. Unfortunately, Fiona's working days were cut short when an accident with the machines left her several limbs short. It was the most painful thing she'd ever felt. Dragons had lost limbs before on the job because they were too slow and while she usually was fast enough; this time she'd slipped up, nearly dying because of it.

The dragons in her clan took care of her, healers being called in to stop the bleeding while mechanics were brought in to fix the machine. It was a blur for her. In and out of consciousness, blurred shapes, shouting, pain. When she came to, Fiona saw she was in her den. The pain had gone down but there was a new problem: she couldn't move her limbs. Fearfully she looked down and saw the bandaged stumps before wailing at the sight; what would she do now? Her clanmates did all they could for her: bring food, water, providing entertainment, sharing news, watching over her, and helping her heal. But while her wounds did, her spirit did not.

She was ready to give up. The burden of helping her was slowing down her clanmates' work and she felt bad for it. Fiona was beginning to plan a way to leave without them noticing when a Shadow dragon showed up- she faintly recognized him as one of the healers when she'd had the accident- and presented her with new, mechanical limbs. Fiona was overjoyed when he applied them and she could finally move around freely again like any other normal dragon. Sure, they took a while to get used to but in that moment all she could do was thank the healer repeatedly despite the new pain from having them attached.

Once her muscles regained their strength, Fiona was even more active. However, she didn't stay with her birth clan working to bring glory to the Stormcatcher. Instead she decided to challenge herself and her new limbs by going to live in the Scarred Wasteland. It was there she found herself living with the Clan of Death. Their leader, Cerberus doubted her use the moment she arrived but Fiona was determined to prove her worth to him and worked to earn her place there because in Plague it was either survive or die and Death Clan was not about to let in a dragon that couldn't earn their keep. Despite how harsh that seemed; for Fiona it was the perfect challenge to prove herself to well... herself!

It was rough at first. Her old wounds became infected and her skin rotted away due to being unused to the area and unable to fight off the infection. However, with the healer's help and some more updates to her bio mechanics- plus an addition of some more- Fiona was able to become a fierce hunter for the clan. Thanks to her unnatural limbs it was rare for anything to be able to outrun her. Fiona had managed to revive her spirit and prove her worth to her new family. No one would ever again judge her for the past injury with her will to survive and fight to earn her own place in the clan.
