Soric is obsessed with birds. They have traveled far and wide in order to discover new avian species in Sornieth to add to their continually in-progress scientific guide, which they plan to publish someday...though they've been working on it for almost a decade now, so it's unlikely that is going to happen any time soon. It's possible that the book won't be finished before they die. They're little more than a hanger-on in the clan if anything, since they rarely return to the lair to do anything but store more of their field notes in Afiyat's care. However, their help with training avian familiars comes in handy, so Lajitka tolerates their infrequent presence.

Not many particularly like talking to Soric unless they want to hear rambling lectures on the feeding behaviors of Snow Streaks, since the spiral, like many of their kind, talks very quickly and tends to get distracted before ever getting to their point. More often than not, they see a bird and they just have to observe it...and so their conversation partner ends up feeling unwanted, ignored, and no better off than when they started.

In the course of their winding journey across Sornieth, Soric has made contact and (somehow) befriended several Talonok Beastclans. In fact, the only one who can stand to be around them for more than a few minutes is their Talonok protégé, who came from a flock hidden deep within the Tangled Wood. She can't fly very well and relies on the spiral for transport most of the time, but she came along in order to sketch birds and attract them with her expert mimicry of their calls. She is a cheerful creature and an excellent artist, and she is dedicated to getting Soric's book finished so it can be accessed by all clans, dragon and beast.
