Even the strongest bodies can house a fragile heart and mind.


"Ah, there go the twins again," the older dragons would say as Tempesta and Kyrie chased each other for hours on end. Though Tempesta, a Guardian, had more than enough strength and bulk to easily pin his much smaller brother, he always let the little Skydancer win. He wanted, more than anything, for his beloved charge to be happy.
But one day, as they played, the brothers tumbled into a crevice they didn't even know was there. The dragon in the cave at the bottom paused. She dropped the lifeless body she had been holding as the hatchlings stared in horror at what their mother had been doing.
"You saw nothing," Aion hissed as she swept toward her sons and scooped Kyrie up in her wicked claws. In the faint light streaming from the cracks in the ceiling, Tempesta could see the cloak-like black pattern that had appeared on her body--he had never seen it before. Eyes wide with terror, the young Guardian backed away before charging at his mother. He latched on, clawing at the much bigger dragon with fearless ferocity brought forth from the very thought that his brother might get hurt. Despite his valiant effort, a simple whack of Aion's tail sent Tempesta sprawling. His vision faded to black as his once-beloved mother spread her tattered wings.

A moment later, Tempesta awoke to find the demon that had once been his mother gone. That meant Kyrie was gone too.
The seemingly brave and strong Guardian broke down, screaming his rage and grief to the skies in hopes that Aion would hear.
