MOTHER'S LAMENT

A glistening white halberd towers proudly over you at eight, maybe nine feet on its stand.
By the size and style of its craft, this weapon might have been intended for a fey or celestial being, once.
The handle is wrapped in soft gold silks trimmed with a lacy white. The pommel is set with a piece of glossy obsidian, skillfully carved into the shape of a monarch butterfly. The edges of its wings and body are filigreed with thin gold wiring. The spike at the halberd's tip is odd: cone shaped, lightly grooved, and incomprehensibly sharp. Upon closer examination, you recognize this as a horn of a unicorn-- a fabled beast, to you, at least. The axe, mounted beside the spike, is a beautiful golden metal that flashes a baby blue shine in the right light. A relief in the form of a swarm of butterflies travels up the flat of the blade. The hook on the opposite side is a thin, curved butterfly wing, adorned with large moonstones.
In a fey script you recognize as Sylvan, you can make out the words "Mother's Gift" engraved along the axe's cutting edge.
