Biography

SKOLL
the brilliant librarian

With so many older siblings who were successful philosophers, medics, and academics, it was not surprising that Skoll's parents expected the same of her. In a way, they got what they wanted - Skoll is an extraordinarily bright and creative dragoness. But she didn't possess the drive or focus that her siblings did. She spent her energy reading fictional scrolls, spinning tales for the hatchlings, and drafting her own impressively large volumes. Skoll was especially fascinated by myths, legends, and magic - so much so that she changed her birth name to the name of the legendary Light spirit who endlessly chases the sun.

Tired of being ridiculed for her passion, Skoll took to the dusty trails and untouched roads of Sornieth looking for adventure. She spent years of her life on the road, hopping from clan to clan as a travelling storyteller. Many clans would welcome her and give her food and shelter if she would stay and spin a riveting tale for them. She even stayed among the BeastClans for a while, spending time with every variety from Talonok to Maren. It was during her stay with a Longneck tribe that dragons attacked the camp, killing a few, injuring many, and completely raiding their stores. After the clan recovered and Skoll decided it was time to move on, an older Longneck female named Gwen decided to join her in her travels to relieve her grief, as she had lost her daughter and mate during the ambush.

After years of travel, Skoll decided to settle down. Her bones ached and her mind was worn from spinning yarns in exchange for food. She decided the eccentric dragons of Arcane would welcome her more than any Light clan, and stumbled upon Tycho's Peak early in its formation. Valencia knew she needed a dragon to organize the vast amount of scrolls and papers her clan would amass during its existence, and Skoll was the perfect dragon for the job.

Generally Skoll is a quiet dragoness, preferring her books over other dragons, but anyone with an open mind and a desire to learn is welcome in her library. She is fond of Valencia and respects her immensely, but some of the warriors or newer members of the clan have yet to earn her trust. She is quick to speak out against anything that upsets or annoys her, particularly clutter in her library or the disrespect of Beastkin. But, if one is respectful of her values and stays on her good side, they may be lucky enough to read or listen to one of her fictional tales of worlds beyond.

Not only is Skoll tasked with keeping the library clean and organized, she is also in charge of recording and compiling the notes and papers written by members of Tycho's Peak. If there's an experiment going on, Skoll is in the know, and if a scroll needs to be sent to the Observatory or another clan, Skoll is responsible for its packaging and safe return. It's a lot of work for one dragon and one Longneck, but she wouldn't have it any other way. In the little downtime that she has, Skoll is free to research whatever topic interests her at the moment without ridicule or obligation. She also spends time with Maylis, one of her closest friends at the Peak, and could talk with her for hours over a cup of hot tea.

Being one of the oldest members of Tycho's Peak, Skoll is also a member of a group of dragons known as the Council who advise and guide Valencia in major clan decisions.

Oh lord, I feel alive
I've gone and saved my soul
If all that you read is everything you believe
Then let go, then let go, then let go
