"There's power in getting close to the powerful."

Iris was taken into the Faerie Court as a hatchling. Silva found fae abandoned in the woods and must’ve been feeling generous that day because fae brought fae home to live in faer palace. Fae grew up coddled and spoiled. If fae wanted something fae'd get it, no questions asked. King Silva eventually became tired of raising a baby dragon all on faer own and Queen Brielle was certainly not equipped to look after another being. Therefore, Iris was cared for by the rest of the Faeries. Fae was raised by everyone and no one, unwanted by the father who had adopted fae on a whim and unloved by faer underlings who were too afraid of fae to try for any form of real friendship. Nonetheless, this dragon is a powerhouse. Fae drew strength from faer loneliness, using it to fuel faer hatred and desire. Fae has become so adept at controlling and manipulating King Silva that the Court is unsure which of them is truly in charge.

“Making the truth look prettier isn’t technically lying."

It’s no secret how bitter and manipulative Iris has become. The dragons that used to chase fae around the nursery shake their heads sadly as they reminisce about the clever hatchling from the Viridian Labyrinth with big green eyes and even bigger dreams. Opalescence is especially heartbroken when he experiences Iris’ cruelty. He was faer favorite back in the day. They were always together, singing and playing. Iris still has a soft spot for the singer but fae only shows it when there isn’t anyone else around. Fae also will occasionally find trinkets and chimes at the entrance to faer bed chambers, especially when fae's had a difficult day. Opal can’t give Iris back faer hope and innocence but he can protect fae from descending further into darkness. Fae just needs to let him in.

”It’s not my fault he isn’t here."
