Even as a child, Kaas never acted like the other hatchlings. He seemed more mature, yet distant. He was quiet, reasonable, and respectful. He did is best to try and keep his brother and sister out of trouble. Whether that was due to his nature or the fact that he was the oldest of the the three is up for debate. When he wasn't out with his siblings, he was tucked in his corner, scribbling away on pieces of parchment. He had a fondness for writing, be it stories, poems, letters, etc. And he loved to read them for his family. He'd sometimes even read them to the whole clan, depending on how proud he was of them. To this day, he carries a few of his favorite writings from childhood..

The day he left his birth clan, he felt a bit envious of his siblings. Not maliciously so, but envious nonetheless. His sister had bright eyes and big plans, and his brother had no plans other than to start in Dragonhome, but that's how his explorations went, and even he had a general idea. But Kaas didn't really know where to start. He wanted to become a poet, he knew that. But where to start, or how to get people to listen was the main problem. So he did what he could. He traveled to many clans, in all different regions to read his poems and spread his talents. Wherever he went, he'd have at least a few listeners. He got compliments almost everywhere as well. It was enjoyable. He'd have to remember to write to his parents and tell them how much he'd improved. And he'd have to someday find his brother and sister again.

He eventually found himself at the Clan of the Cave Dragon where his poetry was so appreciated they named him "Official Beat Poet" of the clan. He looks forward to many long and happy years with them as he continues his search..

Fly little dragon with your high octane nitrous injected little wings.
Fly! little butterfly. Explore the sky.
Fly! You homologous little lizard with emerald starshine. Explore the world.
Return from your random wandering.
When you come back, bring pie.

It was recently that he found a "broken" dragon and took her under his wing. "Little Chipmunk" is bright, caring and totally innocent. If not for Kaas' care, who knows what may happen?

Kaas nods his head and taps his foot, as it listening to some mysterious beat only he can hear.

______ But I must explain to you how all this mistaken idea of denouncing of a pleasure and praising pain was born and I will give you a complete account of the system, and expound the actual teachings of the great explorer of the truth, the master-builder of human happiness. No one rejects, dislikes, or avoids pleasure itself, because it is pleasure, but because those who do not know how to pursue pleasure rationally encounter consequences that are extremely painful. Nor again is there anyone who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain, but occasionally circumstances occur in which toil and pain can procure him some great pleasure. To take a trivial example, which of us ever undertakes laborious physical exercise, except to obtain some advantage from it? But who has any right to find fault with a man who chooses to enjoy a pleasure that has no annoying consequences, or one who avoids a pain that produces no resultant pleasure?

______ On the other hand, we denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment, so blinded by desire, that they cannot foresee the pain and trouble that are bound to ensue; and equal blame belongs to those who fail in their duty through weakness of will, which is the same as saying through shrinking from toil and pain. These cases are perfectly simple and easy to distinguish. In a free hour, when our power of choice is untrammeled and when nothing prevents our being able to do what we like best, every pleasure is to be welcomed and every pain avoided. But in certain circumstances and owing to the claims of duty or the obligations of business it will frequently occur that pleasures have to be repudiated and annoyances accepted. The wise man therefore always holds in these matters to this principle of selection: he rejects pleasures to secure other greater pleasures, or else he endures pains to avoid worse pains.

______ Kaas sways softly and taps his foot. Eyes closed and head tilted slightly back he says "Ahhh, music. The rhythm, the beat, like a gentle river guiding you along. Downstream! A journey to new places and times. Close your eyes and listen." Silence. "My beat is not your beat, your rhythm is not my rhythm but they all flow together like the streams that join the river. Relax and feel the music deep inside you." He opens his eyes and looks at you, a small smile on his face. "Yeeaahh."
