xxxxxThe soft-spoken recently appointed leader of Clan Berosos, Imari is the reason the Clan exists in its current form. Arrogance aside - and make no mistake, though a gentle soul at his core, he will strut and flaunt as much as the next peacock - Imari’s hand has been recognized not only in expanding the Market, but also in his position as the only Honored capable of leading the Clan without (much) issue. xxxxxAdopted at a young age by Mandanu, Imari has been a fixture in the Market since his first days in the Fleche. However, at the time of his arrival on the back of a simple merchant caravan from the Icefield, the Market was little more than a backwater black market, eager to turn a profit (almost) anywhere it could and reliant on a mercenary system with little hope for growth. Part of the problem was, he’ll concede, the location of the Fleche itself, deep in the mountains of Dragonhome. But, he’s hardly let that stop him. xxxxxMandanu seemed more amused than anything with his proposals, and gave him free reign of the Market, with wholehearted support from the Matriarchs. He’s pretty sure it was a partial apology for his lack of a relationship with his sisters, Eridu and Ereshkigal, and nephew (Imari finds the age difference between him and Piraeus endlessly amusing, though he can use the teasing only sparingly), but he never paid it much mind, turning his full attention to growing the Market as quickly as possible. xxxxxWhen Eana tripped over him - he swears it was her, and will continue to do so until his dying day - he gained a partner in crime, and together they raised the Market into the jewel of the Clan it is today. He’d even go so far as to say it contends with the Gardens - privately anyway. No use in getting Murrine and Enten mad at him for the comparison.

xxxxxContrary to whatever his sisters may believe, Imari never expected to be given the Fleche. He was quite content running the Market and deferring to the Matriarchs and Patriarch for all else. At best, he expected maybe to eventually occupy a similar space with his sisters when they all took leadership of the Clan, or even a partnership with Piraeus at worst. Looking back on it now however, he knows that was never possible. xxxxxWhile both would be capable leaders - something he is steadfastly sure of, even with Eana’s disagreement - Eridu would never leave her Library and research, Ereshkigal was too far gone on her Charge to care for an entire clan, and Piraeus was far from a point in his life when he could settle down. xxxxxThe burden fell to Imari, and Imari alone, when the Patriarch and Matriarchs took heed of the oracles and left the clan to him, to prepare their own way into the coming future. They refused to tell him the full reason for their departure, but Imari has never claimed a weak mind. He took the mantle from them with the assurance his sisters and nephew would follow him, and with the promise he could install what measures he felt necessary to the protection of the Clan.

xxxxxTo hear him tell of it, he was nothing but the picture of charm when it came to courting Talavera. He absolutely did not trip into her stall the first time Eana introduced her new friend. Absolutely not. xxxxx…Regardless, somehow, he managed to convince Talavera to give him a chance, and he’s still swooning. To ask anyone in the Clan, he’s as head over heels for her now as he was when they met. As far as he’s concerned, he was lucky enough to marry the most talented, beautiful, amazing dragon in Sornieth, and he’ll happily tell anyone who’ll listen all about it. Eana finds it endearingly annoying, but doesn’t have the heart to truly tease him about it. xxxxxIt is perhaps to a fault, as he’s taken Talavera’s word on her history and erer intent in the Fleche, happy to hand over partial control of the Clan to her as his mate, but there has been no harm so far, so no one is really willing to approach him about it. Indeed, the entire Clan seems as enamored with her as he is.

xxxxxCompared to Eana and Talavera, Imari is often taken as the quiet, behind-the-scenes leader. Where Talavera is patient observance and Eana is stubborn will, Imari is pointed calculation, preferring to let his actions and bearing speak for themselves. He is well attuned to using both distraction and forthrightness in equal measure when needed, easily switching between using a gilded facade and a sharp grin to get his way. It has served him well so far, but, he is still young, and still learning, as the Clan grows around him. |
