Nyarlathotep

Named after Nyarlathotep, the God of a Thousand Forms; Nyarlathotep came to H. P. Lovecraft in a dream first mentioned in 1921 letter to Reinhardt Kleiner as "the most realistic and horrible [nightmare] [he has] experienced since the age of ten", and bears such titles as Crawling Chaos, God of a Thousand Forms, Stalker among the Stars, Black Pharaoh, Faceless God, and Messenger of the Other Gods.


Tephras and Nyarlathotep met between villages and between lives, and created a new life together.

Narla, as her parents affectionally called her, came from a violent and unforgiving clan, but her intelligence at an young age made her realize that she could have no life there, except one of constant strife and battle. Spiral Dragons have an unusual amount of energy, and this was the downfall of that clan; all energy was spent on survival, fighting, and hiding between fights. Her parents, Dagarkin and Veles, were the only kind things in this clan and fiercely protective. On her last day there, there was a raid on their hidden nest in the deep caves of a mountain; she watched her mother and father torn to shreds, a deep red on a respective shadow and obsidian scales. Yet the daughter of the deepest stone and darkness found favor in the hidden depths of the stalactite, so she waited in silence for the mob to finish their slaughter and looting of the feeble dwelling she grew up in and that was her only place of refuse. She snuck away in the dead of a new moon, and ventured off into the wilderness alone, shaking, alone in her sobs.

She learned to waste no meat or insect, and was an excellent hunter as she developed her agility and speed. Her obsidian and hypnotizing pattern made her as unnoticeable as the static crackle of darkness behind darkness, a faceless whirl in the night. She was darker than a shadow and faster than light.

However with isolation at such a young age, she lacked the practice or social development skills to properly communicate without difficulty. She had difficulty controlling her emotions with no one to express them to, and nothing in the dark that could stand in her way. Under moments of panic she would either seize up and shake, unable to think or focus, or she would lash out and attack anything with indifference. Yet on the dawn after a new moon, as void as the moon she left her village, she came across a divine being that both brought forth ecstasy and terror like no creature had brought her before.
