Biography
F A E L A N
Winter Watch |

L I N E A G E
As beautiful as she was, she remained a loner within the clan, for the other dragons knew not to cross her path. They had seen her deadliness in battle many times. During the time the clan spent in the Cloudscrape Crags, Faelan had felt right at home amidst the falling snow and harsh elements. Her rough scales kept her warm (though most dragons in the clan argued that the very blood in her veins was made of ice), and she often camouflaged with the dark, stormy sky, making it difficult for enemies to know when she was about to strike. As the clan made their new home in the sunbeam ruins on the outskirts of the Hewn City, the dragons were put at ease, feeling as though they had finally found a place to call home. Faelan had adapted and remained confident of her position, and as a duty to her clan, she brought a bit of winter from those mountains with her, using it as a shield to drive away unwanted enemies. Quotes: “Touch me and you’ll receive a frost burn like none you’ve ever experienced.” “Alexius…this is difficult for me to admit, so you better listen up because I’ll only say this once… I would have died that night without your help. Thank you. Now leave me be.” Name Origin: Originally a boy's name (very rarely used for girls, name is still androgynous), Faelan is an Irish/Gaelic name meaning "little wolf." |

She just couldn’t understand his persistence. Why couldn’t he take the hint? Couldn’t he tell that her respect for him was beneath her? He was born of lightning, yet he acted as a master of ice! It infuriated her, especially when he tried to bond with her!
Alexius was maddening, and even so far as to pretend that his presence was nothing but a cold wind didn’t break his overly friendly attitude. Everyone knew that she generally wanted to be alone, and she certainly didn’t want anything to do with a lightning-born, ice dragon. Why should she have anything in common with one who was not of her element? She stormed off into the night, her focus was unusually shaky, so much so that she lost her way and found herself on the doorstep of the Fortress of Ends. Her heart chilled to an uncomfortable level of cold, even for her. The Fortress was death to any dragon of a clan not worthy of entering its wake. Already she could feel the temperature around her rapidly dropping, as though the fortress sensed her presence, and within its icy walls emitted a blizzard so sharp that she had to turn away and shield herself. Even as she was leaving, the blizzard did not give, and soon she found herself lying in the snow. What shame…she thought to herself. To die out here? I am born of winter…I should be embracing it, not submitting… Even as her eyes grew heavy, she could see a sparkling outline of a dragon. At first she thought it might have been Elrath—he was always a little too bright for her taste—but this light was a pale blue…like lightning. No, he couldn’t have, she thought to herself and smiling inwardly at the young dragon. Alexius walked up to her collapsed figure, shivering as much as she was, but the sparks of lightning that flashed from his brilliant scales seemed to emanate a warmth that, Faelan guessed, kept him alive and strong enough to find her. “Need some help?” he asked raggedly. Of course she didn’t answer, and he didn’t wait for her to either. As they made their way back to the clan, she would have to ask just exactly how he found her…and why. As it turned out, he simply answered: “You’re my ally and part of my clan. That’s the only reason I need.” |
