Dalben is the youngest son of Marquess Solus and Marchioness Nevaer. There was a considerable gap between himself and his older brother, the previous "youngest son", Auxen. As such, he heard many stories of that particular brother (whom he bears a striking resemblance to) and vowed to distinguish himself from him. He spent some time searching for a hobby, and one day when he was out amongst the shops around the Redwood Court, came across a shop owned by Hamilton Ardencia. In that shop he was introduced to the curiosity that was clockwork toys. Being very intelligent, he realized that these types of things could be enlarged and adapted to other uses. He began experimenting with the concepts and eventually branched out into tinkering with other threads of invention.

While his inventions do garner some small interest from other members of the Court, the real interest is amongst the businessmen that travel to and from the Court. Being both generous and a member of a high ranking family, he does keep his inventions to himself, but freely trades both the prototypes and plans to those who want them.

He has a good relationship with his family, even his brother Auxen, and is generally well liked by the members of the Court. He is fairly easygoing and quite contented, although he is said to occasionally get into eccentric moods. No one begrudges him these moods however, since it usually means that an idea has struck him and he is thinking about it in the back of his mind.
