RYNAKITH
Mature, calm, and collected...

Rynakith (Ryn for short) is a dragon skilled in alchemy and potioneering. He uses creativity and ingenuity to concoct his potions. Some call it magic, but others call it science! He won't say which it really is.

His early life was spent in the Windswept Plateau. During the days he would look for herbs and plants that grew wild in the fields. At night he would crush, mix or brew what he found, and test the results on whatever vermin crossed his path. He never had any qualms about using small rodents to test his creations. Ryn’s skills were largely self-taught. Every experiment, for better or worse for the vermin, would slowly increase his medicinal knowledge.

His potions, salves, and remedies started to have practical applications for his dragon acquaintances. If a tested potion had a positive effect, he would share it with others as the circumstances required. Very soon, other dragons began to hear about his marvellous elixirs, and he would be called to help those injured or sick in neighbouring areas. But he still had much to learn, so eventually he left his home to adventure and gain knowledge.

NEW EXPERIENCES...

Travelling alone was difficult. It became apparent that he needed a few tricks to keep himself safe, so he looked for materials that could be weaponised and used for self-defence. Ryn tested his new potions and powders on any beings that attacked him, and soon he discovered that he had a lot of interest in learning more about poisons.

The Scarred Wasteland was the perfect place for his studies as it didn’t lack in harmful substances. However, this new area was much more troubling than he thought. Ryn stayed at the outskirts of the Wandering Contagion for several months as he developed ways to resist the pestilence that contaminated the land. He was able to devise a few medical solutions which he would have to take daily so that he stayed healthy.

He ventured deep into the Wasteland. The dragons here were fierce, but some of them grew to appreciate his talents. He spent a lot of time with Clan Retiiri as their healer and alchemist. In return, he was given shelter and protection as he scavenged for new materials in the Abiding Boneyard. What little vegetation grew here was tenacious and potently deadly – it was perfect for him to use.

Eventually he had to depart the Scarred Wasteland. His potions that resisted the diseases of this land were slowly becoming less effective. It saddened him to leave because he knew that he could never return with his immune system showing signs of becoming compromised. He headed back to the Windswept Plateau and looked for his old home...

INTO THE FUTURE...

Ryn discovered that his original clan had fallen into a deep sleep. With nothing to keep him there, he went looking for other opportunities to expand his craft.

During this time, he heard from a friend of a friend that a large trading station in the Southern Icefields was seeking talented dragons to become store-holders. After briefly considering it, he decided to do just that. A trading hub would allow him to find and trade for new materials to use in his potions. It would also give him a safe place for his body to recuperate after being exposed to the Scarred Wasteland for so long.

He left from a Windswept Plateau port, boarding a ship run by a Captain Ouranos. Apparently this sailor would be making regular trips to Ryn's new home: The Southern Skyway [Respite and Trade Station].

SOUTHERN SKYWAY
RESPITE AND TRADE STATION

ice_small.png

The clan has been living in the Southern Icefields for several years now. A large respite station has been opened to coincide with the clan progenitor's fourth birthday. It is located on the north-eastern side of the Southern Icefields, in one of the smaller coastal mountains in the Cloudscrape Crags.

RYN'S REMEDIES
About halfway down the stairs between the main levels of the respite station and Providence Port is a mid-way point. The stairs open out into a large rectangular area, with another set of stair leading down at the other end. There are two stores at each side of the area, making four in total. They are; Uncharted Charts, Swords and Scales, Ryn’s Remedies, and Jabber Snack.

Ryn’s shop is located in the mid-way point next to Jabba Snack. It’s a little colder here than the areas above, but this works in Ryn’s favour. The slightly frigid temperature keeps his herbs and powders well preserved.

He makes many types of potions and salves to sell or exchange with the dragons passing through his shop. The store has a front room lined with bottles and jars for sale, and a backroom where he keeps his inventory and mixes the potions.

Ryn’s Remedies sees a lot of travellers that come and go from the port below. From them, he is able to buy a variety of elixirs, mixtures, and vegetation that he would otherwise be unable to find if travelling alone in Sornieth. Ships dock here from all over the world and bring a plethora of new goods on a weekly basis, keeping him very busy.

Recently, Ryn came across a secluded valley crag while scavenging for shrubs under the fresh snow. With a bit of magic (or science, he still won’t say which) he set up a small greenhouse to grow some of his more rare and deadly plants. The only one who he shares this secret with is Thief, who helps him tend to the garden.
