Claire is essentially the Manor's butler. She tends a bar, cooks for the dragons who prefer a bit of sophistication in their meals, harvests poisons, brews beer, and even owns a vineyard. In fact, the only thing she doesn't do is tolerate any kind of conflict. As the major provider of the clan's precious alcohol, she has considerable influence and prestige despite her jack of all trades reputation. Her affinity with poisons probably helps, too, but it's quite nerve-wracking to watch Claire adds exquisite but deadly spices to her cooking. Somehow, her precautionary bottles of antivenin have always remained untouched.

Everyone who's spoken to Claire will reminisce about what a good listener she was, and how she gave such good advice. But ask them about her personal details, and they'll always draw a blank. Claire appears out-going and generous at first glance, but she's actually a very private individual. She dislikes being touched and will shy away from any physical contact. Secrets are important to her due to her own turbulent history, and she understands and accepts any clan member's reluctance to talk about their past. Very rarely, she will partake in her own brews, always resulting in a dreamy gaze towards the east and a formidable temper in the morning after.

Most dragons were understandably afraid of the natural toxin that oozed from her skin, and as a hatchling Claire was never allowed anywhere near the food preparation area. After a series of experiments on herself, Claire developed a way to incorporate her poison into her cuisine (without killing anything), and joined the Manor as a winemaker and a cook. Al lets her prepare foodstuffs for the clan on the strict condition that she doesn't use anything too lethal. Usually, Claire follows this faithfully, but everyone knows not to get on her bad side when the food is being served.

Being as laid-back as she is for both a Wildclaw and a Wind dragon has made Claire a popular middle-man and bodyguard for those situations where a little meaningfully displayed poison wouldn't go amiss. Regardless of any disreputable pastimes, Claire is on friendly terms with almost everyone, and she's often called upon to resolve disputes between more confrontational clan members when Thessaly is too busy (or too indelicate). Gabriel and Xavier are frequent customers, and Claire can always find the time to listen to their problems and commiserate neck-deep in a pitcher.
