Origin

Tabitha never knew what she wanted to do with her life. For as long as she can remember she was told to make up her mind, get on with it, take control. She was terrified on a bare thought of going off for her Search and not finding anything. Was there ever any guardian without a Charge? She was desperate for some sort of sign, pull towards something, and finally found herself on her way to exalt line. Her birthclan saw great honour in serving deities, and lots of younglings were encouraged to enlist. Tabitha tried to avoid this fate, as violence was her least preffered way to solve problems, but her father was done with her stalling.
"There is no time for your doubts out there, daughter" her father proclaimed with cold tone, when he was overseeing her packing. "You must be strong. Quick. Strike true. Let Tidelord guide you through the waves."
Tabitha was left alone amongst hundreds of hatchlings just like her, terrified and almost sick with dread. She was still just a young, scared girl with no hopes for tommorow - which God would she serve?

Will someone come for her, to pick her up?
How far must she go?
What will she do?
How bad can it hurt, if she got wounded?
Will she survive?
Does she even want this?

"You look like a really, really sad baby deer" she heard then, pulled away from her thoughts to see a small fae with furiously bright yellow wings. Smaller than herself, really, even if Tabitha was still very young. She blinked, not sure what to answer, but fae didn't wait for it anyway. "Come on, I can't stand it. Let's go" she said, fluttering around Tabitha's head. "Go where?" the guardian managed to ask, as they navigated their way back from the military sign-ups.

"We're going home" the fae had simply said.

And for the first time in her life Tabitha made a decision without a second thought. Something cracked in her, something shattered and something bursted open. Well, maybe she didn't know what she wanted, but she could tell what she didn't want at all! She followed the fae - Senga - over the sea, with frequent stops. Neither she nor Senga could made that journey with a single flight, but fortunately Tangled Wood's border was not too far for them to travel. During their rest, Senga laconically mentioned random information about her clan and the realm of Shadowbinder. The guardian knew some facts due to her father being a shadow dragon - he did the best pranks on her mom, when she was a little hatchling. Her mother was always a rather distant figure, often lost in thoughts like Tabitha herself tends to do, but those jokes which her father conjured could bring her back. These memories were her little treasure.

With each and every Senga's word Tabitha felt stronger in her decision. She could always join the ranks of the Dark Lady, come to it, and she grow to like this sarcastic, tight-lipped little fae.

When they at last reached their destination, it took her some time to adjust. Darkness seemed to rule the sky, but she soon learned to distinguish difference beetwen night and slightly lighter day. She still couldn't see some creatures clearly, but Senga explained that she will never be able to - her sight works best when underwater or near.

She almost immediately picked up fishing skill to aid the clan, and let Biorna focus on defense matters. She also promised to not tell anyone about his Super Secret Fear of the Depth. She brought intersting samples from the bottom of the sea for Senga and quickly proved her usefulness to the clan.

She felt important. She had her place, her family, and her best friend - small Smoky Bantam Fangar, who she calls Foggy, as he likes to play in the particulary thick mist.

It was years later, until Tabitha understood: she didn't seek out her Charge. Her Charge made itself clear as she was appointed one of the clan Chiefs - this is her home. This is her family.

She will guard them with her life.

As a parent

Tabitha is a gentle mother, and loves her shift at hatchlings daycare, possibly spoiling younglings a little. She cannot be strict even to her own children, who often climb all over her head. She doesn't mind though, as long as they're fed, rested and happy. She does everything to ensure her children's safety, and lets them make their own decisions when they feel like it. She's proud of every single one of them.

Tabitha is even more protective of hatchlings, since the day Arcanum got lost. The birght child of clan astronomer and scribe slipped her mind in the worst possible moments. Tabitha can't forgive herself for causing such trauma for the little hatchling, and does everything she can to prevent similar situations in the future.

Relationships

When she joined the clan, she cought the eye of young Tundra - Farag, previous Leto's mate. He parted with her on somewhat cold terms, which left him sad and distant from the rest of the lair. When he met Tabitha, though, he started to recover, still trying to avoid Leto on all cost, though. He didn't approved of sending their children to the service of Shadowbinder, and he thought Tabitha would agree with him on that part.

And as she is always sad to see her child leave, she couldn't even think of restraining them in any way, or blocking their choices. She didn't want to take their freedom and finaly Farag left the clan, not able to live with mothers of his absent children.

Tabitha enjoyed solitude since then, until a young pearlcatcher stumbled into their clan - Ashoka was his name. Guardian lady found herself glancing in his direction more than once, and offering him her gentlest smiles.

The pearlcatcher, however taken with her at first, couldn't fit in within the clan, as a first from a few. Ashoka tried his best, but eventually decided to leave Grey Moths, and Tabitha found herself alone once again.
