Ora had a pretty regular childhood, living in peace with his clan and family in the Shrieking Wilds. They were a nomadic clan that mostly stayed rooted within the territory but changed their place of rest each night. While they came together as a clan to decide and protect their resting grounds, nesting grounds and their supplies - they were all reclusive to one another during the day. Ora's parents walked around with him, teaching him how to hunt for anything he could while in the wilds; meat, insects, non-poisonous plant life and fish. They taught him the ways of the world and how to survive. There was, however, one thing they couldn’t teach him. That was how and why every time he tripped over a tree root or touched a flower, he saw strange visions. They told him it was just his imagination running wild and to ignore it. So that’s what he did. As he grew older though, the visions became longer and more detailed as his knowledge expanded. Some of the visions made him worried. He saw friends and family die, he saw clans and beastclan alike clash together in a great battle. In one of the blue orchids he picked up, he saw a vision of his future self – covered in a green coat with a bag adorned with glowing trinkets and tools. It frightened him a great deal as a new adult but even then his parents still did not believe his words. So he went to the clan leaders, who acted very much like his parents and brushed his concerns aside. He grew angry at them, not knowing why they didn’t believe him. When he was able to make the choice he left the clan and never came back. He didn’t want to be around dragons that thought him merely a hatchling with fanciful thoughts. He went traveling, trying to understand how these power of his worked. It seemed like the local flora of any given region had their own tales to tell. He started to become able to distinguish the past from the present – visions of dragons of past were merely seen from an outsides point of view or from a distance. Visions of the future dragons were from the point of view of the individual dragon. As he travelled he sold his services as a seer and oracle that could recite things from the past and see small glimpses of the future. He was quite successful, and soon had come about the money to get this green coat and bagful of trinkets he had seen in that vision of himself as a hatchling. He was in nature territory after all, and a bunch of blue orchids were by his feet as he stood at the stall and bought his coat and bag. He wasn’t sure if this was one of the orchids he had picked, but he knew his powers had never been wrong so far. During his travels towards the Tangled Woods, he came across a beautiful Imperial. She was a regal white dragon in blue garb that simply made her stunning. He had been speechless at first before introducing himself and even offering his services to her. She rejected the offer but gave him a new one, for them to travel together so they both had some company. Ora accepted, it would be nice to have some company after being alone for so long – company that didn’t seem to think him crazy. They travelled together for a long time, during which time they became mates, and together they came across The Shrouded. It was a clan that had been hidden to Dia but Ora could see the small breaks of the invisible barrier within his sight – being the curious dragons they were they had stepped into the barrier to see what lay behind it. They hadn’t be disappointed when a stone structure stood before them, and two dragons were on guard duty on the outside. They had been let into the clan the moment that Ora said he could see the small gaps where the invisible barrier didn’t stretch fully. He and Dia had been escorted to the clan leaders and were asked to explain themselves. Ora had told them that he could see the barrier, and once question about it, told them of his power of prophecy. He had expected to be laughed at again, but they had taken him seriously. After that moment he was taken under Raz’s wing to learn all about this blessing and godhood that he apparently had. It shocked him but he learned everything he could about it, and reflecting on it made him really think that he was in fact some sort of god to be able to have these powers. Both Dia and himself had decided it was time to settle down for now, they were nomads by choice but having a static place to raise a family couldn’t be too bad. They had their own private quarters and a real nest to be able to have their own children. Ora was looking forward to the day he met his first children, and the day they would first see him with their small hatchling eyes. He couldn’t wait to introduce to them to a big wide world, to let them know their father was a god blessed by the Gods – and he couldn’t wait to see if they’d became a legacy, a legacy they could be proud of. |
