Biography
Cyrene
Princess | Manipulative | Driven | Temperamental Apollo's mate Royal Huntress The unwanted daughter in a family of doted-on sons, Cyrene feels the constant need to prove herself to others. Despite her small stature as a Skydancer, she is surprisingly fierce. She is able to laugh in the face of danger without being overly reckless. She is highly independent but won't brush off kind gestures from others, such as random little gifts and the like. She has a quick temper and sassy attitude once her anger has been triggered, but despite her excellent comebacks, her temper isn't a good thing. Sometimes she can be so blinded by petty rage that she makes unintelligent choices for the sake of getting back at someone or something. Although her breed is more magically-inclined, Cyrene prefers instead to use her brute strength, agility, and quick wit when she is fighting or hunting prey. She is very attuned to nature; her intuitive abilities are remarkable. |

Cyrene was born to a pair of royal dragons in a small Lightning clan. Although this princess was very well-loved by her parents, as she grew up, she felt undertones of disappointment in her parent's voices when they talked of her accomplishments. As the months became years, she learned why: they had wanted their eldest child to be a son, not a daughter. An heir to carry on the name of her father, something that they didn't believe she was worthy of doing. Although they later hatched sons, it was their protocol to pass the title of King or Queen to the eldest child. Day in and day out, Cyrene felt pressure to prove herself to her parents as worthy of carrying and honoring the family name. She wanted not only to be as good as her brothers at the same activities. She wanted to be better than them. She practiced hard in order to usurp their accomplishments. Hunting was a key activity in her family, particularly for sport. Her family often went into different territories and hunted big game not only for food, but also for their heads and skins as trophies. When her brothers came of age to hunt, Cyrene spent every hour of her free time training and strengthening herself for the hunt. On the boys' first outing, they brought down an elk together with tools and skill. On the contrary, Cyrene managed to track down a Magma Embear and bring it down by herself. No nets, no traps; all she had on hand were her claws, fangs, agility, and intellect. She was so proud of herself for this catch that she barred her family from killing and skinning the beast. Instead she nursed it back to health and befriended it, which impressed both her parents and her unrelated clanmates. She became the talk of the lair. Her chest swelled with pride every time she managed to outsmart a wild beast and bring it to its knees, especially single-handedly. Cyrene demanded to keep all of her prey trophies in her bedroom. Her walls were soon decorated with the heads of all kinds of game, and her floor with their hides. Every time a new prey was spotted in a far-off territory, Cyrene was the first to know. She quickly learned how to make an effective tent and camp as she tracked her quarry across the land. She began to venture further and further away from her home, spending longer and longer periods away and coming back with trickier, rarer game. Even though she had long since proven herself to her parents, nowadays, she's in it for the challenge. One of her hunts took her to the Light territory, the Sunbeam Ruins. A chimera had given Cyrene quite the run for her money, but in the end, she had come out as the victor. She was so pleased that she took the beast's corpse into a temple of the Lightweaver and laid it down on the alter, a tribute to the Light deity for such a fine hunt. As she exited the temple with her quarry, a large, golden-colored Imperial approached her and introduced himself as Apollo. Cyrene chatted him up a bit and said goodbye, but that wasn't the last she would see of him. As she goes about her business in the Sunbeam Ruins, Apollo is right behind her, showering her with gifts, trying to woo her. She humors him and his advances, flirting back at him sometimes, and she makes it clear that she enjoys the attention he gives her. However, she also makes sure at the end of the day that he knows she doesn't need him to take care of her, not him or anyone else. Every time Apollo meets her, Cyrene brings up one of her trophies at home, or a beast she's lugging on her back—her evidence that she can handle anything life throws at her, by herself. |
