something you didn't even realize was there buzzes to life, startling those present. static echoes in the room amongst layers of silence.
"can you.. hear me?"
runes fill the room, and a piece of technology manifests against the wall. the static is back. tensions are high.
do you answer the voice? do you inspect the gadget? the clock is ticking, and the choice is yours.

Meir tilts his head in confusion, his ever present lamp swaying with his movements. This is not something of the Library nor is it of the thing infecting the Library's halls.
'I hear you,' he chimes out in response, voice drifting like smoke as he studies the shapes of the runes for familiar writing.
'Are you lost?' he asks, the ever present shadows trailing in his wake darkening for a moment, as if in anticipation.

"Ah. Most excellent! And who, pray tell, am I speaking with?"
The strange object sparks, and for a moment, you think it may have perished as an electronical device altogether.
".tsol deredisnoc eb dluoc ...ma I tahW .oneV ma I"
Static echoes in the room again, and you hear the object spring back to life.
"...This ... radio, is not my best work, I'm afraid," they hiss under their breath. "You'll have to bare with me. There's no time."
Something else manifests alongside the radio.
"You should receive a messenger shortly. It will explain the rest, should you allow it."
what to do...?
the radio dissipates, leaving only behind pink and cyan sparkles.
Meir sighs in disappointment, what little excitement he was able to gain from that interaction was overcome by the desperate, angry gnashing of the Things Which He Shall Not Acknowledge Again.
It wouldn't have been the first time their greed was overcome by outside sources, but being denied in this manner twice was not something he'd hear the end of anytime soon. Allowing his lantern to brighten and drive them back a bit, Meir took a closer look at the familiar left behind.
'Come along now,' he spoke gently to it, 'Seeker will find a place for you to call home.'
Meir allowed his familiar to guide the other to a safer location.
He would wait.
It would come back one way or another.
The elements twist in place as they are lead along, manifesting an image of a starship. The image sparkles and continues, depicting said starship slowly beginning to sink into the swamplands of Nature territory. The elements fizzle back into the balled forces, leisurely drifting behind.
"It's too late," a strange voice echoes, seemingly coming from the elementals. "We will lose everything, it's too late."
Too late? What a curious response. Meir began to lightly sway to and fro as he came to a decision; though his magic specialization hadforcibly evolved after his Awakening-Event, he still could bend time to his will long enough to communicate with the mysterious Veno, at least while within the library's walls.
Meir sets his attention to the space where the strange technology (and the puzzle that followed in its wake) appeared and pulled. Like a memory in reverse, he could feel the strange technology-magic resisting, but by now the Library was curious as well. They would get their prey.
A pop! Static began making itself known within the Library once more, though it's sound was garbled and skipping. It did not want to be back. It did not appreciate the changes forced onto it.
'You may call me Meir. How can I be of help?' He softly asked, before he felt his control slip and time restore itself, though the effects of his intervention could still be seen to his eyes.
A jagged tear crudely fused back together poorly. Poor enough he could sneak something through. Something of the Library. Something he could track.
Yes. This was excitement-thrill-chase. It was time to hunt.
