Biography

Melisande
Rogue

Dusk Rogue Hood
Melisande was born and raised in the Tangled Wood, her pale colors making her instantly visible in the dark forest; that was an asset when performing, less of one when trying to be sneaky. If she wanted to play hide-and-seek, she had to find a hiding place ten times better than any other hatchling's. If she wanted to steal something, or eavesdrop, or sneak out past her parents to see someone they disapproved of, she couldn't count on blending into her surroundings; even a disguise could only do so much. She had to seem like she had a right to be where she was, or to be doing what she was doing; she had to rely on ruses and excuses because simply creeping unseen was not an option.

And as a result, she's a better thief, spy, and sneak than any other dragon you'll ever meet. The spy crouching in the woods, listening in, can be given away by a snapped twig or a sharp-eyed scout, but the spy who's allowed into the meeting as a messenger, or a janitor, or to serve tea, walks away with all the information she could want, and even if someone realizes the deception, she has a head start on her escape.

Sure, she can always fall back on her skills as a dancer and acrobat, which are considerable; those open doors for her, too. But Melisande likes the thrill of walking away with jewelry that "needs to go back in the vault" or a painting that "needs its frame repaired," with information that no one would think to keep quiet just because the tea is being served, or with treasure and gems that a trusting dragon just handed to her because her tale was so plausible. And she's starting to think it's time to leave her family behind. She loves them, but that's part of the problem - they could get in trouble because of her. And they're starting to ask some inconvenient questions about her earnings.
