Karida / Venomblade Assassin - Hlessi's traveling companion, second-in-command, and beloved. They go together, or not at all. She is the less-serious of the two, a rather sarcastic and mischievous Serthis whose blades are almost as sharp as her wit.

ABOUT.
righteous // capable // callous

Young but tough, and an adequate fighter due to her upbringing and her travels after leaving home. Hlessi is mainly skilled in defensive light magic and strategies, but her offensive abilities aren’t lacking. She’s a solidly-built pearlcatcher due to the snapper in her blood: a fairly imposing presence both in battle and at rest. Not to mention, she somehow doesn’t seem to have inherited much (if any) of her father’s sense of humor. Serious and stoic, it is very rare for her to so much as crack a smile with anyone other than Karida.

Those who get to know her will understand she holds deep loyalty and a promise to serve those under her protection with her life, or her death if necessary. But they will also find a stark black-and-whiteness of thought, and a coldness in place of compassion.

TRIVIA.
• Called "Bright-Eye" by Karida for the way her left eye appears to shine brighter than the scarred-over right one.
• Hopelessly awkward around children, and often frightens them accidentally.
• Has helped fight against an emperor in the flesh; although it was a relatively young and weak one, the memory of the wretched creature and the knowledge of its creation had a lasting impact on her and left her significantly distrustful of imperials.
• Pearl is blue-tinted with a golden sheen and heavier than it looks; the surface is pitted with small scratches and several larger cracks despite its youth
