Variks, the Loyal is the warden of the Prison of Elders, a prison facility in The Reef where Fallen disputes are settled through trial by combat. He belongs to the House of Judgement and holds no loyalty to any House or Kell. He was one of the few Fallen to remain loyal to the Queen of the Reef, Mara Sov and acts as one of her advisers.

Variks had lived among the House of Wolves as a scribe and witnessed the uprising that Skolas initiated. Unable to abide the attack on civilians, he contacted Mara Sov's brother, Uldren Sov, and helped put an end to the uprising with Skolas' capture. From that day, Variks served the Queen, in effort to keep the House of Judgement and its ancient traditions alive in the face of increasing degradation under the rule of the Kells. 		oz4mVWy.png
Variks wishes to see the Fallen restored to a lawful, peaceful rule. He harbors some lingering jealousy for the other races, especially humanity, as the Traveler had chosen them for its patronage and left the Fallen with nothing, not even memories of former glory.
