they reached their maximum fighting power, they began to change form and pattern to reflect their newfound

Chlotachar was more passive - believing they would accomplish something according to fate in due time.

After both were no longer hatchlings, but grown dragons, they travel the world. They wander and explore

decided yet), and neither would pay the other a mind. And before they noticed....the X would be there.

Radegunde and Chlotachar had quite a bit of an adventure when they were hatchlings barely a week old. With

no blood-related family of their own, they seem to find solace in each other - a kinship of sorts.

Radegunde may be the more cool-headed of the two, but she is defiant and headstrong. Chlotachar is a

quirky one, friendly and out-going but was certainly a little rascal. The adults often lamented over

Radegunde's negative influence on him. It would be nice if the little girl would open up more and hung out

with the others just like Chlotachar.

Radegunde once ventured away from their burrows, ignoring Chlo's plea on safety and dangers out in the

dark. Even so he ended up trailing after her all the way to what appeared to be ruins of moss green stone

and structures. It seemed like a great adventure until an unstable floor caved in and trapped them

underground. It was fortunate they were at an active excavation site, and help arrived immediately. Both

were safety rescued but given a stern scolding on their way back.

Radegunde never liked talking about it because she hold these painful experiences at arm's length, and to

this day deeply regrets it. She felt ashamed for putting a friend in harms way due to her selfishness.

Chlotachar, however is having none of it. "Raaaad, we were just kids," He turned to her, with a glint in

his eyes, "Just you wait though, when I am strong enough I'll be the one to lead you on our exploration

trips. It'll be full of danger and plenty of fun!"

Chlotachar is such an imp, he knows exactly what to say to cheer her up. Radegunde huffed, "You gotta

train more if you want to keep up with my pace!" She may still be a little stuck up, but she won't deny

how glad she is to have Chlo as her training partner and future traveling companion.

As for Radegunde and Chlotachar, seeing as they're Kelp Bed trainers I think having them be marine

biologists could be quite interesting! Perhaps they could be investigating the effect of dragons moving

into the kelp beds is changing the ecology, or studying manta runes?

Now I have an idea for a story where they're called over to Redrock Cove to investigate why Spiney Whale

have begun to appear and where they came from. They collect as many Traveller's Runestones as they can

find and eventually figure out that the strange runes originate from an ancient (and extinct) Maren script

- but the local Maren populations are strangely tight-lipped about the language. They team up with a

headstrong Maren Spearmaiden who is determined to slay a Spiney Whale to prove her skills to her village.

The two dragons and their Maren companion begin to track the Spiney Whales' movements, and as the Maren

Spearmaiden opens up to the dragons she begins to share small hints about the mysterious runescript -

enough for Radegunde to call in a favour owed to her from a linguist friend who joins them and begins to

unravel the ancient language. Meanwhile, Chlotachar is starting to see a pattern emerge in the Spiney

Whale's movements, and something is stirring deep in the cove...

@Areater wrote:

Chlotachar was always an upbeat, friendly dragon. He could count the number of dragons who didn't like him

on one paw, and he had always felt blessed by Lightweaver. He seemed to find more rare items when

scavenging in the Sunbeam Ruins than in other places, and his Clan never seemed to go hungry when he

hunted there. His life was going great, until he met Radegunde and his life turned upside down. She

appeared covered in rags and filthy, begging for a place to stay. He of course offered her a place to rest

in his lair and some food if she was hungry. However, when he fell asleep, he woke up with claws at his

throat and teeth, locked in a snarl, mere centimeters away from his face.
He managed to fight her off, and fled to safety. When he returned, Radegunde was gone. After treating his

shallow wounds, he went to bed with a katana pressed to his side. The next morning, he found a poisoned

dart lying by his head, the tip dented from where it hit a rock and bounced away from it's target - him.

With a startled squeak, he fled again, unsure of where she was hiding. When he grew tired of running and

went to drink water from a puddle, he caught it's scent and realized a thick layer of poisonous herbs

lined the bottom. "Why do you want to kill me?" Chlotachar shouted into the air, trembling as he yelled

it. After a moment's pause, she appeared, a broadsword clamped in her jaws. She spat it onto the ground

and...began to cry. Instantly he though it a ploy, so he smacked the sword away from her and prepared for

battle. However, she just kept crying.
After a lot of blubbering, she admitted that she had been abandoned and had no food or shelter. She had

been offered a job as an assassin, and she had chosen to kill him to prove that she was able to kill.

However, every attempt went wrong - either because she lost the nerve or because Chlotachar bested her.
Never let it be said that Chlotachar isn't merciful or forgiving, because he helped that sobbing mess onto

her paws and took her back to his lair. Now they're mates, and he has never been happier.

@Celes wrote:

Radegunde was hatched first. She's not sure of who she really is, or where her parents - if she even has

them - are. When she peered out of her egg she found herself in a cave filled to the brim with eggs,

grouped together by flight. There seemed to be no dragons about, confusing the little hatchling, who

instinctively wanted a parent there to keep her warm.

"Eggs from 2-C are due to hatch today," she heard a deep grumble from outside the cave. "Perhaps they'll

withstand being exposed to the Shade better than yesterday's group of experiments."

Experiments. Radegunde didn't really know what the word meant - nor the Shade - but she didn't like it.

Growing anxious, she peered around, and spotted that other eggs, too, were beginning to crack. The noises

of a hundred eggs hatching would soon bring about whoever that grumble had come from - and she didn't

think she wanted to find out.

Stretching her new little wings, Radegunde began to desperately run towards the entrance of the cave,

faster and faster until - she found herself tumbling over and over, having tripped over an egg. It was

only then when she paused.

Shouldn't she try and bring the other hatchlings with her? They were all to be experiments, after all. She

hurried back towards the egg that she had tripped on, and managed to pick it up with all four paws, taking

flight as she did so.

"Run!" she squeaked shrilly to the other hatchlings, who simply blinked up at her in surprise. "Run, now!"

And the hatchlings did. Radegunde at the lead, clutching the egg, they rushed from the cave like the

strong current of a river. Chaos began to erupt - dragons started swooping down and grabbing hatchlings to

keep them from escaping, and the wails of scared hatchlings filled the morning air. But Radegunde kept

going. She flew and she flew and she flew until she found herself alone. The sole survivor.

Wait, no - she wasn't the sole survivor. She looked at the egg she was carrying, and gently set it down.

It was still due to hatch that day. When it did a few hours later, Chlotachar emerging and asking where

they were, Radegunde feigned ignorance - claiming to only have hatched a few minutes prior in the deep

snow they were in.

The two raised each other. Learned to fight, learned to survive. She is fiercely protective of him, for he

is a gentler, kind soul. He in turn is deeply in love with her, his staunch protector and ally, hardened

and a true warrior. She still has not told him of their true origin - and doubts that she ever will.

@FeDog wrote:

Radegunde was tired of the clan throwing her together with Chlotacher every chance they got. Learning to

fight together had been enough for Radegunde to know she'd rather live alone and without hatchlings than

live her life with that brute. He was a great fighter and had a natural charisma that worried her. It

tended to make dragons think he was not as much parent less, as it was that whatever gods gave birth to

him would claim him when his testing was complete. She saw through that. He had drive and ambition to be

sure, but arrogance, so much arrogance. She didn't like the way he pushed through the clan's hatchlings

when they came to greet them and see what gifts they brought from battle. Her hearing was keen enough to

hear him mutter about weakness when the clan leaders let their offspring climb on them and tug at their

wings. If they were ultimately placed in a new lair together, she would keep her distance, but keep an eye

on him. He was still young enough it could just be the arrogance of youth, but Radegunde had a feeling

about him and she always trusted her instincts.

@SolarGriffin wrote:

Nothing was ever easy for Radegunde and Chlotachar. Sometimes, on nights like this, Chlo would lie awake

wondering what either of them had done to offend the Gods so much. They had never been intentionally cruel

to anyone or lied for personal gain. Quite the opposite. They had always treated others with generosity

and kindness. But clearly they must have done something to anger the deities. Why else would they

constantly be in situations like this?

Both tundras were children of the Hewn City. Dragons of light, with the golden rays of the Lightweaver

reflected in their eyes. They were born to be openhearted pursuers of knowledge, not warriors. But they

had hatched alone. No parents, no siblings, no clan. The knowledge they first pursued was identity. Who

were they and how did they survive in this lonely world? And then they found each other. Both alone, both

underfed, and both in desperate need of help. So they relied on each other.

Together, they transversed the realm of the Lightweaver. They sought inclusion in their homeland, but had

the misfortune of encountering clans that only looked down upon the shortcomings of their breed. While

their hearts were warm, their forgetful minds made retaining the wisdom of tomes and scrolls difficult,

and many dragons cast them out in frustration.

After one too many rejections, Gunde delicately suggested a change of surroundings. Perhaps they would

find sanctuary beyond the Lightweaver's territory. And so they set off together for the nearest border.

They followed the fireflies into the forest, lured by their floating beauty. Initially, the strange new

forest was inviting and exciting. The cool glow of the mushrooms and shimmering lichens were nothing like

the yellow brightness of the Hewn City. But as they continued, the forest closed around them. Willowy

trees were replaced by creeping thorns, and the occasional giggle of laughter turned into random cackles

of menace.

Lost deep in the Foxfire Bramble, they came across the mirror. She saw their loneliness and naivety. She

spoke in honeyed tones about rest and shelter. And in their desperation, they followed her.

The lair was thick with thorns and shrouded with mist. The dragons there emulated their home: prickly and

deceitful. They forced the young tundras to serve the clan, making them do the grunt work for their

prosperity. The pair toiled to exhaustion, digging and scavenging and hunting. In return, they received

just enough scraps to survive. And for every ounce of suffering Chlo endured, Gunde felt hers twicefold in

guilt. She had suggested they leave the Sunbeam Ruins. While they might not have been welcomed there, they

had been safe. But because of her, now they were trapped deep in the shadows of the Shadowbinder. Her

constant apologies broke Chlo's heart, and her constant promises to find a way out.

But they were promises she intended to keep. She started training them both in secret. She watched the

stronger dragons of the clan and tried to mimic their skills. Any minute they could steal she would use to

teach Chlo what she saw and learned. They would practice while they toiled, when they were sure the others

weren't watching. And while Gunde studied fighting, Chlo watched the comings and goings of the others. If

they broke free, they needed to know which way to run.

They chose their moment carefully, when they were being watched by only one dragon of the shadow clan.

Unprepared for the strength they had gained, the lone nocturne was easily subdued. The pair took off into

the forest, and faced the more difficult part of their plan: battling the forest. It took many weeks to

break through the dense fir trees, but when they finally did, they were all the stronger for it. Finally

with space to glide, they soared over the placid waters to the distant, verdant shore; determined to leave

the Tangled Wood forever.

The wild shores of the Viridian Labyrinth seemed like paradise to the exhausted herbivores. Starved for so

long, they feasted indiscriminately on the lush plants at the foot of the jungle. Perhaps they had finally

found a place where they would be safe.

But the jungle had ways of protecting itself. The tundras had been familiar with the flora of the Tangled

Wood. Through the lashes of their old clan, they had learned what was safe to gather and serve and what

could drop a dragon dead in minutes. But they did not know the plants of the Everbloom Gardens. Maybe it

was that purple flower or that red vine.. or that strange yellow fruit. It was impossible to know. But as

Chlo stood watch over a thrashing Gunde, he could not help but wonder and will it to pass. He curled tight

around her and murmured encouragement... And wondered again what they had done to offend the Gods.

could be her full story of joy and happiness, but unfortunately it wasn't. She has failed them. She has

inspired them to move to Foxfire Bramble, where the clan could hunt better and have a better bigger place

to live, yet as a being of light she was not really to protect her new clan from the darkness of the woods

and all of her clan fell to the wild beasts lurking in the shadows. She was restless, and hopeless, and

desperate, and almost choking with guilt for many years, she has abandoned other dragons and found a lone

home for herself somewhere at the Southern Icefield, as far as she could from all the dragons that could

possibly know her and know her dishonor. She had abandoned her name, her clan name, every memory of her

parents and the star she was born under - that is her true story.

Chlotachar was born under a lucky star. He was an orphan - an egg left to freeze in the cold nights or to

be eaten by a predator, yet there was a different fate for his egg. A fate to be picked up by a wandering

clan allied with the Winds. A beloved son of his clan, a proud fighter and a yound passionate soul crawing

for adventure - that is what he grew up to be. His Search has begun just a couple of moons ago, he has

left his clan and went to new horizons on his own. And who else could find a dragon-with-no-name-hiding-

at-the-end-of-the-world if not a dragon-searching-for-the-end-of-the-world? Chlotachar has become the

first dragon for the female to call a friend after such a long time. Their bonding was not easy, yet he

has managed to convince her to start a new Search and she has agreed after a while. She has chosen a new

name for her to carry - Radegunde, and called the star Chlotachar was born under as her own star of birth.

And so they carried on together.

"What kind of charge should we be searching for you?" Chlotachar once asked and Radegunde answered with "I

will help you with your Search first"
Little did she know though. Chlotachar has already found his charge.

-Teamed up when they realized that two dragons together would be stronger than just one.
-Worried that they wouldn't be able to find a clan to take them in if they didn't have a skill, so they

both worked and trained to get to a high enough level to train other dragons.
-Both have plans for markings they want to add to their coats and wings once they find a clan, as a way to

celebrate the fact that they will finally have a home.

They both trained to be warriors in a special training camp, Rad was more into sneaking and ambush attacks

while Chlo was more headfirst. They became friends after helping each other out with their individual

weaknesses. Months passed and they graduated and were sent on different missions across Sornieth. Years

passed and they grew into formidable warriors, eventually forgetting the friend they had made back many

years ago. It was only when a huge battle with beastclans was fought that the two ended up meeting again,

but they could not remember how they knew each other - they only knew that they had been friends. Now they

hope to become guardians of a small clan that needs help, and are trying to rediscover their friendship.

He's a bit spacey and likes to daydream, while she's more down-to-earth.

He likes to come up with ridiculous ideas, and even though she usually tries to point out why they're

unrealistic, every now and again she gets swept up in what he's saying and finds herself adding even more

to it. These are his favorite moments, though they usually don't last very long. He likes to watch her

eyes shine with excitement when she's momentarily forgotten to be her perfectly practical self.

Radegunde and Chlotachar are an inseperable duo. They're both seasoned warriors that now guard the clan

they reside in. Radegunde is more of a pessimist in life, always being negative when it comes to battle,

especially when it comes to Chlotachar since Chlotachar tends to find their way into trouble.

Strong and silent type
Intolerant of privilege

Chlotachar

A noble of some kind
Lived a comfortable life
A little spoiled
Talkative (more like unable to shut up)

They don't get along very well at first, but eventually Chlotachar takes his uppitiness down a notch and

Radegunde respects that.

Radegunde and Chlotachar are best known as the musical Tundras. they travel the lands singing and playing

their songs on the road, in tavens, Inns and sometimes even for royalty. But only a few dragons know their

true reason of travel. They are hired assassins, using their music to sniff out their target. Best hope

Radegunde and Chlotachar are an inseparable pair. They didn't fall in love at first sight. In fact, they

had been childhood friends, but nothing more than that. They were assigned to a training unit for to-be

warriors. That was where their bond grew deeper. With each victory at the long, hard, days at the Coli,

they felt mpre partnership. Radegunde and Chlotachar synchronized each attack almost perfectly. Radegunde

would come up with clever tactics to defeat their enemies, while Chlotachar made up most of the firepower.

They trained together until they were both level 25. Ever since, they have been still battling in the

Coli, and helping the younger dragons broaden their knowledge of the Coli.

On the silent eve of the Night of the Nocturne, a glinting vestige foretelling Yule dangles amidst the

night bleeding twilit skies, reflected upon the skyward eyes of warriors.

A tear dribbles upon tufts of downy fur, stained in the fresh blood of hardy battle, her face abruptly

cast downward as to obscure the sorrow. Her soft, silken mane tossled by duel, streaming in the gentle

wind, fill the winter night with the sweet scent of the blood and sweat of struggle and an underlying

chord of snowsquall spruce and gladevein poinsettia. A familiar intermingle of comfort, safety,

hatchlinghood. And sadness?

Chlotachar nudges her muzzle tentatively, sore from their bout. "Why do you hide as if you've lost? You've

bested me, dear Rade!"

She flushes despite herself before rectifying herself immediately. It must not be as dark as she thought.

The haunting shrieks of the flight of the migrating nocturne's overhead seemed to disagree with her. She

returned to confront her battle brother, her greatest friend, her true companion and her only confidant.

Blood, sweat, Cragsward peppermint and Reedcleft ginger, she remembers.

"It is nothing," came the reflexive response, in a clipped and tight voice, "do not worry for me. The

Night approaches, camp exp-"

"You know you can't lie to me, Rade," he ruffled her fixed mane into disarray, "you were never any good at

it."

"You could say I'm as good a liar than you are a fighter," she teased, nuzzling him in retaliation.

"You could say you're a better crier," he countered, "do you always weep snowflakes?"

She gasped at the realisation. As the darkness of the Night suffocated the dim, quiet light, the

overcoming frost scarcely recovered it. The land was transforming all around, flakes of soft snow slowly

descending upon them, icing the hinterlands of the flats shoreline in spiralling strands of delicate

crystallisations. Changed, just as they will be. The mere implication brooked a fresh wave of nostalgic

longing and a twinge of trepidation. By the Radiant Lightweaver, I am a warrior, not a homesick hatchling.

She met her mate's eyes, without the occlusion of shame, pining for the comfort she always found in them.

She found his eyes fixed on her, searching hers and quizzical beneath his mirth. Within the wonderous

whimsy of the moment, she felt deeply the poignancy of endings. How ironic that her closest friend looked

forward toward the prospects of what awaits them, whilst she looked back. The fragrant Yuletide, how it

curses me with its onslaught of memories! How I wish to forget again!

"What a strange and fascinating journey its been," Chlotachar finally said softly to the eve Night. A

conclusion to the end of their former lives.

The bittersweetness of the liminal twilight, of Night's Eve, of transformation, swirled around them like

the flurries of snow, collecting upon blood matted fur and wingscales.

"We'll see if you're as good a fighter," he began tentatively, "than..youareaflyer!"

With those last quick succession of words, he took off and plunged into the falling night of nocturnes,

leaving Radegunde struggling to close the distance behind him. The gap becoming wider as the snow clouds

draw closer and harder upon her, her wings, tired with the strain, falter as she loses herself in thought

and emotion. The closure was fastly dawning. His grey wings, darkened beneath clouds' canopy, fluttered

out of sight.

Fly away at last and let go.

Her last thought dwelled upon her noble orphaned birth and the identity of her parents, scattering like

snow in the wind.

He's the one most likely to start a snowball fight the minute you look away, though Radegunde is usually
