Fascinated by her never-before-seen colors and eager to reinvigorate his breeding project, Ikaroa adopted Impiri and brought her home to become a member of the Jungle Bird tundras. He hadn’t counted on two things. One, even as a hatchling Impiri was one hundred percent clear on what she did and did not want and was not about to surrender her independence to anyone. Two, she brought along a familiar, a gigantic silverbeast—or, more accurately, he brought her, carrying the tiny fluffball carefully in his enormous clawed hands. Though Impiri eventually deigned to associate with the other Jungle Birds, she remained the princess of her own tiny kingdom, coolly but graciously acknowledging the presence of others but largely going her own way, protected from interference by her loyal beast. As an adult, she further disappointed Ikaroa by refusing to become a performer and instead turning her considerable magical talents toward a coli career. Together with Anatta and Taiissa, she has advanced rapidly, and their team is currently jockeying for second place in the clan’s coli rankings. Though her manner is impersonal, she respects Anatta and Taiissa’s abilities as warriors, and she is equally satisfied to take a support role or to pummel enemies directly with her spells. If worst came to worst, however, and their team got into serious trouble, she would probably save herself first. The one aspect of the Jungle Birds’ way that she’s in agreement with is the requirement to be knowledgeable and skilled in many different areas. She’s a voracious reader, with her primary interests in being in history, magical theory, battle lore, and travellers’ accounts. In addition to training in aerobatics, she’s been studying smithcraft with Xanthus of the Cloudstreaks and cooking with Elise, and as a hobby she shapes both tiny bonsai trees and larger topiaries. Despite his antipathy toward the Jungle Birds (or perhaps because of it), Tegid is not-so-secretly pleased by Impiri’s cool defiance of Ikaroa’s plans and has been trying to interest her in literature. She finds a lot of it perplexing or not to her taste, but she’s determined to keep trying to see the appeal. Facts – Has epicurean tastes in food and prefers tiny portions with exquisite tastes. Elise enjoys cooking for her and teaching her because it ups her own game. – Rarely displays her emotions. – Is one of the only dragons in the lair who enjoys listening to Kyrszith play the qin; otherwise, she has little interest in music. – Though she cultivates a particular “look,” she isn’t vain about her appearance, but she does have an almost feline need for cleanliness. – Her twin children with Marehi, Angara and Saiann, went to serve the Gladekeeper as oracles. Fictions — Familiar Jor the overcharged silverbeast loves her tenderly, as if she were his own cub. As she’s grown older, she’s become more independent of him, typically leaving him behind on coli trips, but when she’s around the lair, he’s rarely far from her side.
