Darkfeather Zelkyr
___Personality: Perhaps reviled is too weak a word to use when describing what the majority of the Flock feels towards Zelkyr the Merchant. Mention their name and only a slew of curses and ill stories will rise to meet it, with none coming to their defense. Most of the Flock are determined to have no dealings with Zelkyr, often going out of their way to avoid them and the goods and services that they provide. These endeavors are in vain and ultimately fail for Zelkyr has wormed their way into the fabric of the Flock and is here to stay. Undoubtedly a favored subject amongst the gossips, it is rumored that Zelkyr, having the ears of the Council, poisons their thoughts at every opportunity. Exaggerated accounts will often feature them employing dark magic and even dealing with the likes of the Shade to ensure their continued existence within the Flock. Such speculation is left unchecked and allowed to run rampant as they are very unpopular, and secretly Zelkyr has made it something of a sport to see if they can inflate these stories even more. Only a lucky few may raise to the rank of legend, leaving the rest with the choice between infamy or fading into obscurity. Zelkyr has had their pick.

___To hear some of the other members of the Flock tell it, Zelkyr is akin to the Tatterwing Carcasses or Shatterbone Vultures that populate the Ghostlight Ruins. Many an embittered tale details how ruthlessly opportunistic they are as they prey on the weak or the needy to serve their purpose. Even the most hesitant will ultimately have to make deals with Zelkyr, and they are eager to spread stories of how the merchant makes no allowance for ill health or poor weather when it comes to keeping their end of the bargain. Zelkyr is meticulous and strict about payments, and those who are tardy will have to suffer a high-interest rate. Others also curse Zelkyr 's close ties with the Vitterfolk Trolls which grants them quick access to exotic and much-coveted goods from far off lands. Sometimes the only way to get a desperately desired bauble is through Zelkyr, and they'll make sure that it comes with a high price tag.

___Zelkyr, on the other hand, finds this whole affair amusing. Having others curse their name is not something that bothers them at all as in Zelkyr's mind they already have the friendship of those who matter. Uva, the Vitterfolk Trolls, and the Council all hold Zelkyr in high esteem, and that is enough for them. What the rest of the Flock do not see is how loyal and protective Zelkyr can be. They were the one who encouraged Uva to take to the ocean, who single-handedly provided a ship for their best friend so they can fulfill their dreams. The high prices that they charge for trade are done to protect the alliance between the Flock and the Vitterfolk Trolls with Zelkyr making sure that all deals are fair. True, there will be times when Zelkyr's favor will rest with the Trolls, but they are of the mind that the Flock needn't be lazy and should work harder to get what they want.

Backstory: Run of the mill is probably one word that can be used to describe Zelkyr's early years. They were born into the merchant chaste to experienced parents who have had many, many nests before them. Though they had many siblings of varying ages, Zelkyr lacked clutchmates, and that made their fledgling years more than a little lonely. As they could not while away their time with play, Zelkyr took to filling in those long hours by observing the comings and goings of the Flock around them. They were an inquisitive fledgling, small for their age and possessing an introverted nature. They were so quiet that most did not notice them as they went about their business and Zelkyr could watch and learn to their heart's content. Admittedly, what they saw was not always pleasant, but these proved to be early lessons on the nature of the Flock that they will go on to use to their advantage.

___Introductions to Uva, another child of the merchant caste, happened the year they were both set to help out at the market. Zelkyr and their new friend hit things off quickly and soon were inseparable. The two could not be more different than night and day. Uva was outgoing and honest while Ikzan more reserved and prone to lies to hide their motivations. Despite their differences, the pair remained close, and it was because of Uva's unfailing loyalty to them that inspired Zelkyr to grant their deepest wish. Pooling their resources together and striking a deal with the WillowGlen Clan masters of invention that revered the Stormcatcher, Zelkyr gifted Uva with a ship. Though they like to gloss over their part in helping Uva take to the ocean, Zelkyr's feat was no less miraculous and stood as evidence of their resourcefulness and haggling skills. Both these skills would come into play again when Uva was out adventuring, and Zelkyr left up to their own devices.

___While their friend was away, they became close to a member of the Vitterfolk Trolls. Trade with the Trolls was a common occurrence but not profitable as some groups within the Flock would frequently get together to drive prices lower. Though the Trolls tolerated this out a sense of friendship dissatisfaction was starting to spread and to keep their alliance strong Zelkyr went to the Council with an idea. They would make sure that the prices of goods remained regulated and fair by acting as an official negotiator for the Trolls. Of course, most of the Flock called foul, but Zelkyr calmly gathers these stories and waits for Uva to come to shore again so that they can have a good laugh together.
