Phenakite is a sweet and gentle lady with a passion for hatchlings.
As a youngster she hatched from an abandoned egg, and spend her juvenile years being tossed about from lair to lair as a foster child. With her strange two-toned coloration, her appeal to adoptive parents was rather low, something that was only compounded as she grew older, with most adoptive parents preferring the youngest hatchlings.

Some of the lairs she lived in were welcoming, although lacking any sense of permanence. However, others were outright awful. There are many reasons a clan would offer to take in young hatchlings, and not all of them are pure. Added to that was the tendency of foster hatchlings to have had rough childhoods, and many foster homes became a melting pot of negativity.

Phenakite can't bear children of her own due to complications from a medical procedure undertaken to rectify her gender. This is fine by her, as she finds the idea abhorrent, and would much rather foster. At this time in her life, she isn't ready to become a full time foster parent. Instead, she has become a 'Guardian Angel'.

A career of her own devising, she visits foster homes and spends days out with the children in turn, filling the role of a loving older sibling for a day or two. The hatchlings get a break from their home life and some one-on-one attention, and an opportunity to talk to someone if things aren't okay. Phenakite always goes the extra mile to ensure the safety and happiness of the children she meets, and on multiple occasions has relocated hatchlings from unsafe homes, calling down the wrath of many upon the foster carers.

She loves her work, as emotionally draining as it can be, she finds it incredibly rewarding.
