Biography

No one knew quite what to make of the young Plague dragon who strode into the glade one evening, bowed politely to Yoldi and Anthrew, and requested permission to join the clan. Saola in particular distrusted the stranger, and even Hearth refrained uncertainly from her usual welcome. After much consultation, Anthrew permitted Charon's entry into the clan's spaces, assigning him to the willing tutelage of Humblebee. It took Goodkind, however, to discover and appreciate the newcomer's vast knowledge of poisons and ills, wrangling Mulrey into hours-long discussions with him. While he has no interest in serving as a healer, Charon is engaged in writing up his observations of the Plaguemother's work in a tome which, while it betrays no Flight secrets, may yet prove an important resource to dragonkind.

“Fare thee well, our young Guardian,
may your journey treat you well.
It will be long and difficult,
but the journey is only part of the quest,
only part of the search.
We have watched over you from when you were an egg
until you were ready to leave the nest,
but now it is time for us to say fare thee well.
We may never meet again,
but we know we will never be apart.
When the Tidelord divines your final journey,
when the Icewarden preserves your deeds,
when the Windsinger steals your breath away,
and when the Earthshaker crushes your bones into dust,
our spirits will meet again in the lands of the Plaguebringer.
Fare thee well, our young Guardian,” sang Xenastah and Evren.
