As you trudge through the Fortress of Ends
Where the tundra forever extends,
And the stars in the sky
Seek to lead you awry
From the pathway that wanders and wends –

As you hear a footstep on the ground
Just behind you, a frightening sound,
You feel breath on your head
And it fills you with dread,
But you gather your wits and turn 'round

And you see a bogsneak, lightly sat
(Rather far from its own habitat)
On the path in your wake
Making you double-take,
For the dragon wears too many hats!

With a cabbie, a turban, and more,
With his floppy-brimmed headwear galore,
And a shawl o'er his eyes
Leading you to surmise
That the millinery's what he adores.

With a whoop and a shriek of inflection,
He leaps and avoids your deflection,
And with horror you freeze
As his claws come to seize
On the hat you wore for your protection.

And he gives it a thorough inspection
Noting all of its small imperfections
Before taking the wing
And departing he sings,
"It's a fine piece to join my collection!"
