Biography

every questionably righteous and helpful shoujo mango holy-paladin-leader-type plot twist villain in a fantasy setting ever

Tsamet's tale is long and complicated, but if you've ever read a shoujo mango, where the author feels the sudden need to add a plot-twist villain with any of the convoluted reasons about 'how all of humanity is irredeemable' then you already know how it goes.

Suppose there was a kingdom in The Sunbeam Ruins, where a power vacuum was created due to the suspicious passing of the strong ruler and the incompetency of the young sheltered heiress. All the inner factions from military to religion would attempt to grab power. Suppose the factions splintered further and it becomes a real free-for-all battle of politics from every inconceivable corner. Now, in that setting, some try to do the right thing. Morally, the heiress should be helped out. They are the rightful ruler and they are a good considerate dragon. It becomes an uphill battle, that through miracles actually persists and ends favourably. A week of respite, the war for the throne seems to be won, but no, it is an everlasting war. There is no ending. The quiet hissing starts again, the plotting picks up again. Suppose you've lived through this scenario twice, thrice... And in the next round, you decide to do your own machinations. To make it final. To enforce your own version of the rule.

In your head the scheme sounds benevolent, you will not be taking away any needless power from the rightful ruler, just 'helping out' more actively, covering the heiress' weaknesses with your own strengths. They say you've gone too far, you see your own faction splintering underneath yourself, the portion of the army you once commanded is fractured. Some of your own loyal followers are plotting against you now, turning those who've remained loyal against you further. In the coup d'etat against you, you truly confirm it. Nearly all dragons are the same. If you'd get the chance, you'd purge them all.

And lo and behold, you get that chance.

Tsamet is still out there, though his army is lost, his might is not. Once you've lead before it isn't hard to find dragons who would flock to you for guidance once more. Sure, he doesn't have the noble masses as before, but a group of outlaws can cut throats just as well.

Tsamet's charge is a seemingly flawless pearl, so it is no wonder where he can get his passion from. Wouldn't it be fun if at the height of his success he finds the flaw...?
