Biography
RENAME - Mermaid
RENAME was lost to her parents the moment she stepped into the sea. She had always known there was something rather unusual about herself, particularly in times of drought. The dryness drove her mad, made her incorrigible, impossible. She was never herself until the rains returned, and even then, it took time. But the sea righted all that.
It had been a family outing and a chance to catch more bugs for her sister's collection on Tangled Wood's narrow shore with the Sea of a Thousand Currents. While her parents backs were turned, RENAME slipped into the water, and immediately felt a change come over her. Her hind legs fused together, and her wings remolded themselves into something more like giant, decorative fins. Alarmed, she raced out of the water, only for the changes to vanish. It was not a permanent shift in appearance, but suddenly, RENAME wished it would be. With a mighty splash, she returned to the sea and to her new form. As days went by, though she knew her family must be searching desperately, she remained in the water, becoming ever more in tune with the rippling, shimmering world around her. In mere weeks, she had integrated herself with one of the local maren schools, becoming their premier shark hunter on account of her sheer size and strength.
Now, she has cut ties with her first maren school, as they traveled further and further south. To fill the void left by the absence of her friends, RENAME has begun introducing herself to other schools of maren occupying the area. It is a tiring task, as many schools are inherently suspicious of her, and the shrewdest of schools refuse to take her on because they fear for the day a shark bests her. No Beastclan wants an Emperor to form on their territory. But RENAME continues fighting for her place. The sea is vast and lonely without company, and she is determined to belong once more.
