Biography

Sweetpea
The Guardian
"She guards the Founding Tree."

SweetpeaSelfy_zpsmseilbuz.png
Selfy made Here.

Sweetpea was a young child when she came to the Redwood Court with her parents. They were here to trade their richly woven cloth, but the trip turned out to be more important to Sweetpea, who laid her eyes on the magnificent redwood, known as the Founding Tree, that grows from the center of the palace grounds. Even though she was not yet old enough to take on her search, she knew it was her charge.

Once she reached adulthood she returned to the Redwood Court to begin protecting her charge. Since it was within the palace grounds, she had to speak with King Pyrite and receive permission. While his advisors were hesitant to allow her, King Pyrite decided to allow her to live at the base of the tree and protect it. He felt that Sweetpea's presence would render the palace safer, since Sweetpea would naturally fight invaders to the palace in order to protect her charge.

The residents of the Court and visitors to the palace were initially bemused by her presence, but grew to accept it and eventually ignore it. Sweetpea prefers to be left in peace to protect her charge, so she is not bothered by this. King Pyrite did however see to it that food is delivered to her and has impressed on her that she has permission to ask for anything she needs.

She is normally stolid and quiet, but she grows quite belligerent whenever she feels the tree is threatened. She wields two large "knives" that are larger than most swords and feature a unique horizontal grip and large hand guards. She is frequently seen practicing with her weapons as well as caring for them. Her only other hobby seems to be reading.

She is friends with Lieutenants Xiaoyan and Xunqing, who were some of the first to approach her after a long time of being ignored. Though their friendship began in a rather unusual way, with Xiaoyan deciding to pick a fight with the broader and taller Sweetpea.
