Masana

Masana is a seer, but she is not here to tell the colony's fortune. She is only here to tell the truth, and to discern it, where she can. The future does not concern her any more than it would the average dragon - no, telling the future is the gift most often given to Water dragons; and, too, many Light dragons have a gift for seeing into the past.

But where Water dragons see possibilities, fickle dreams shifting in glassy scrying-pools, and where Light dragons seek the answers to age-old questions, she concerns herself elsewhere. Masana has a gift for knowing the present, for seeing the truth, lawless and immutable and unforgiving; for judging a drake at a glance, and knowing the immediate circumstances in her life.

For all her dedication, she herself is not infallible - she knows that - but she also knows that truth itself is not a matter of wants and wishful thinking. The truth is objective. Dragons will think what they want, and do as they like, but the truth simply is, whether they wish it to be or not.

Her only purpose is to use her talent to protect the colony, making no compromises in that duty, and it is no easy task. She wishes, at times, that she were freer to put truth aside, for the sake of so many things – she wishes, at times, that certain things were not true. But they are, and she cannot change them, and most of all she cannot presume to change them; for that is not how the world works.

Her past is not something the colony, as a whole, pries into. But she doesn't make much a secret of it, either, and will tell the tale to any who ask. The way she sees it, there isn't much to tell: she'd wanted a greater purpose, and traveled Sornieth until she'd found one.
