Biography
Occupation: textile maker, dyer, weaver
Partner: Julep
Birthplace: The Shattered Plain
Pronouns: she/her
Personality: kind, gay, cheerful, gay, withdrawn, gay
Kira does not know what happened to her original family. Her earliest memory is of her claws shuffling through the thin layer of dust on the floor of her old hut. The entire village had been deserted quite suddenly with no trace of scent or footprint. The Plain was vast and the dust storms were massive, so she dared not venture out for reasons beyond gathering. In that time, she spoke to no one and had no name. She had only the rags she slept in.
She hadn’t realized how long she had spent in that empty place until a group of raiders uncovered it. Hoping to salvage whatever valuables were left behind, they found little more than fragile pottery and sentimental trinkets; they settled on taking Kira instead. They planned to sell her off as cheap labor, teaching her rudimentary words that she later learned were meant to be demeaning. They called her dumb. They called her beast. They called her man.
Luckily for Kira, the raiders were inexperienced with pathfinding and thought it clever to avoid unwanted attention by cutting through the Plaguelands. There, they reasoned, they would find easy buyers without morals and weakened travelers ripe for shakedown. They found nothing, and, thanks to they many creeping tendrils of the Wandering Contagion, soon were nothing.
Kira used the last of her remaining strength to break through the rotting wooden bars of her travel cage and continue on, shouting for help as loudly as she could. Eventually, she crossed paths with a patrol from a friendly clan that offered her food, shelter and education. Finding passion in color and cloth, she focused her efforts on developing a textile trade. She found writing, and in doing so, wove a name for herself.
Now, Kira knits socks and sweaters that she wears with pride. She extracts vibrant dyes for string, yarn, and to show off her gorgeous beard. And she sews huge, fluffy quilts that keep her and her partner warm every night.
