Caroline

"Oh, I'm just teasin' with ye!"

As the captain of the Marauding Majesty, Caroline is a formidable dragon that few would dare mess with, even though she has a considerable bounty on her head. She was born in the small fishing clan of Reelin to a couple who were very poor, but they loved each other and their daughter with all of their hearts. Her father died in a boating accident when she was very young; her heartbroken mother followed a few months later. Caroline was sent to an orphanage, where she stayed until she was a young adult. After that, she decided to set out on her own and make a living on fishing, just like her father.

Her first ship was a rickety old thing she found abandoned and fixed up herself, but it was enough to get her away from her childhood home and all the bad memories associated with it. Despite her hatred of Reelin, Caroline still loved the orphans she had adopted as her family. However, a lack of donations meant that meals were strictly rationed and the children often went hungry. She tried to sell her catches at the market, but her meager earnings made little difference. Out of desperation, she pickpocketed a merchant -- the money was enough to feed the entire orphanage for two weeks.

Emboldened by her initial success, Caroline began regularly stealing from the wealthier visitors to Reelin and distributing the gold among those who needed it. Naturally, she was hailed as a hero by the poor and condemned as a villain by the rich. As her notoriety grew, she feared she was endangering the orphaned children with her presence -- while most members of the local community were willing to turn a blind eye to her crimes, she was bound to get caught eventually. Thus, she bought herself a brand new pirate ship, renamed it the Marauding Majesty, and set sail for new lands, leaving Reelin for good. Every once in a while, though, the orphanage receives a generous sum from an anonymous donor.

Caroline is best known for her bright red mane, fierce protectiveness of her crew, and impressive skill with a sword. Despite appearances, though, she cares deeply about helping the needy. It is her desire to stop the suffering of Adonisian commoners that compels her to become one of Prince Amour's informants.
