Fallen did not understand why Alexis had asked about the shopkeeper's fate or why they now hurried upstairs, insisting to help carry some of the things. At first it had assumed that incidents like this one were mere curiosity, but over time it started to recognize a pattern. Alexis would spot someone doing something dangerous, ask the prophecy what would happen and, if the expected fate was bad enough, tried to intervene.

Fallen often wondered why someone would go out of their way to help others. Most likely, that was the way they had been made. Maybe it would never understand - for perhaps prophecies and dragons, though both created by the same gods, were just too different to find common ground.
